Default AD F-16 ... Royal Danish Air Force -Progress Pics

For those of you that like a simple F-16!

By the end of the long weekend I hope to post more update pics. I have done some weathering but need to put on the rest of the hand painted markings before I really make this bird dirty. I have attached a progress pic as well as the real thing that this is modeled after.

Kim,

I did look at that scheme, however I like simplicity. I looked at hundreds of schemes and this one was just right! (for me)

BTW I painted it using Testors Model Masters water color and will clear it with PPG Dead flat clear. It is very easy and forgiving to paint with but hard to clean your spray gun ...because it dries fast. .. Paint to handle time is only a couple of minutes. Good for me becasue I have no patience.

Hello. Couldn't resist posting a couple of photos of my newly built Avonds F16. Since we don't have F16 in Sweden, Denmark is close enough. I think the Danish looks very cool. After all, I'm powering it with a Simjet turbine.

Here is my update pic. P-A thanks for postingthe pics, I wish I could get mine looking half as good as yours. Are those Avonds drop tanks?

Where did you get your markings? I had to hand paint mine..

BTW I was at Tam's tonight and saw the latest ARF yellow F-16.. Fully painted from the factory...only one word to say .... INCREDIBLE... You could probably take it to scalemasters out of the box. The only paint/detail job I have seen better is some of the top dogs that are in the upper echelon of scale competition. You would never know it was an ARF in a million years. Too bad it is not a little bigger...

Hi!
Thanks for the nice comments, yes they are avonds optional droptanks and sidewinders,I think they will fit any F-16 in that size.
I had Philip to custom make the decals just to get them to match the orginal dekal kit, he fixed that and send them to me in 3 days and it didnt cost any big money at all. give Philip an e-mail and he will help you out.
best regards
P-A

Wow Jimmy.. that thing looks great. I cant wait to come over and see it in person. It will have to wait until i get back from Florida, by then you should have it ready to fly. Your gonna have to show me how you do your weathering on the panel lines, i am always too afraid to put too much paint on them.
I will call you from Lake Whales and let you know how much I love flying Johnny's AD F-16, I hear those things are the bomb....they sure look great.

thank you Jimbo, Dave's in air as I type headed to Ft Lauderdale. On My AD-16 the only removable parts are the wings and NOSE CONE only. Everything else is attached as one piece, all my charge leads and switches, propane lead and fuel leads are all in the nose so just take the nose cone off and done.

Jimmy this Jet was a royal mess when I got it. I re-did the entire jet with the exception of the servos that were OK Nose gear retract setup is Brand new from Rohm Air along with a complete set of new kevlar tanks all around along with the UAT. BVM Wheels and brakes as you know the reason why BV wheels are suited best. New Jet-Tech tail pipe and of course a touch of paint from my local guy that did the jumbo F-16. Both jets have identical setups as I'm trying to make all my Birds operate everything from the nose. I will post a pic of the nose when i get a chance to shoot it.

Jimmy,
Nice Job on the F-16. Do you have any tips using the Testors Model Masters paints? I take it you mean the acrylics when you say water color? I like Testors because it's readily available in military colors, though I never thought to use the acrylics. How many bottles did it take to cover the whole plane, and how much did you have to thin it out to spray? Also, what's your experience been with covering this stuff with the PPG?
Thanks in advance,
-Kirt D.
