there are two types of humans on this planet - those that have been in battle and those that have NOT. 22 years in the USAF and a Vietnam Vet, I refuse to ONCE AGAIN go down the road of "morality" surrounding combat. Unless you have actually experienced the undescribable TERROR of being in battle, I don't think you can categorize ANYONE who has had to defend or be killed based on a single "video" or "war story". I was subjected to many of YOU when I returned from combat - the spitting, name calling, refusal of service when in uniform, etc...

As far as saying "you fu*king americans", I am sure you have made GREAT "friends" with the majority of the readers of this website. Better yet, why not get in a crowd of Canadians in PUBLIC and yell out "you fu*king americans" at some LIVE Americans and watch how QUICKLY the rest of your countrymen separate themselves from you. There is nothing I can say to change your way of thinking other than to say you are a pitiful coward cowering under the protection so many men and women in uniform (INCLUDING Canadian military) have provided for you AND your family....

well valier, someone has to do the hard work and someone has to sit on the porch. we will do the hard work. since we took the fight to the enemy, i havent seen any terrorist attack on us soil or on any of our embassies or ships at sea or ports. so if the terrorist wish to go to iraq and get it on, so be it, they are getting what they would like to give. i will sleep better tonight. if you can read this, thank a teacher, if you are reading this in english, thank an american soldier. my 2 cents. barry

Re: the video of the total desintegration of those innocent Iraqui's in the field. I have seen the whole video. That is only the ending of it. The first 5 full minutes is them carrying weapons from the vehicles out to that shack looking thing the field. They were'nt just chit chatting on the corner.

Only a fool would come in here and say something as crass as what you said. Your own countrymen are probably appalled and embarrassed for you.

The sanctity of life.

Sacred for us all, however in war, sanctity is lost. It is cruel for all sides, appalling, uncivilised, but that is what happens when the talking stops.

In differing situations, judgement gets impaired, fear, emotion, dare I say hatred, are all experienced, and actions taken. Most are wrong if taken from a strictly morale aspect, but when two sides clash in a militaristic way, there are no winners, but there sure can be losers.

In the Battle of Britain, bailed out pilots were shot at by the enemy. Why? Because if they landed safely, 3 hours later and they would be back up fighting again. Would the straight laced Brits do the same, you bet.

War is unholy, cruel in the extreme and full of victims. But, and I speak as one with experience here, if I had to fight, I wouldn't second guess on compromising my enemy. I would not want them coming back at me at any time, so I guess I would be hitting hard, imploring them not to come back.

My interest in this thread was simple, I wanted to see what happened to the Mig on take off.

I did not want to look at awesome fire power killing people, but this has become the sense of this thread with the understandable curiosity of human nature, most people here are showing some kind of shock.

Let us try to be civilised with each other. Let us try to understand the others viewpoint without resorting to insults, because that is the down hill thread.

I mean that as no affront to the understandable and commendable patriotism, after all united is a good thing in most cases. But lets open our ears and at least hear the others view in context of the deplorable waste of human life, whatever the justification, if we could all let each other live in peace, I am sure the world would be a better place.

And if someone could show me where this bloody video of the Mig taking off I would be grateful!!!
