Working on the tail and boat, run out of mid CA, using wood glue, works the same it just takes a little longer to dry.

Thank you, Im enjoying the build, this jet builds fast, as told by others, the parts fit perfectly as they fall out of the box

Bruce is the "MAN". All of his kits have the parts fall out the box and then fall perfectly together. Keep the photos coming. Chic

Here is a short video of mine. this is my third flight and I am still tuning flight controls to fit my tastes as you can see I still have troubles to determine the good landing attitude.
There was a lot of wind for this flight, and a bit bumpy but after this one I think I won't change the turbine tilt, it's good for me with stock part . It track like on rails
I already LOVE it and I wiill start smooth aerobatic next flight..

Very nice! Enjoy

Please report on the CG position when you think you're done moving it.

Tks.

About the CG, when I waked up yesterday and saw the wind, I decided to move it close to the forward limit. At the forward limit you still have a excelent response of the elevator (maybe too good response,, see my landing). My Cg will remain close to the front and I'll put some expo on the elevator. If you look the size of the club runway I think this will be a good setup to not finish in the grass or bend a nose gear. That plane love to fly and refuse the ground.

Again this is my opnion only and my choices match my modest flying skills

Ready for the Maiden Flight. After the airplane is tweaked, I plan to add more panel line to enhance it looks.

Good idea to move the CG forward on a windy day.

about my setup, I give you one more opinion. I decided to switch from kero to gas start after having burned 1 sq feet of the club grass . The P60 kero start option is not a good choice for this particular design

I don't blame the kero start concept, but the p60 kero "addon" is in my opinion not a good stuff for the R54 particular configuration

Flown again early this morning in calm weather, CARS II asked for my cg opinion, so here it is . On mine I will place it definitly 1/4 inches bacward of the FORWARD limit, I found the plane stable and responsive in that configuration. I set also some expo on the elevator to help to manage a precise flare.
The setup go for me, but everibody fly different, In my opinion The forgiving nature of the design allow you to experiment your own cg tuning without being too concerned as soon you remain in the limits

Thanks Chic

Main hatch after triming and a beer ( well deserved )

It took a little bit of caressing to remove the main hatch but at the end it broke loose, trimmed it and all is good now, lots of balsa dust.

good job, don't do the mistake I made by placing the spring loaded hatch retainer too early. This make the nose section primary sanding a bit difficult

My side after a flight dedicated to touch and go I found the good landing attitude and speed yesterday

My girlfriend took this nice shot

Copy that !

That is a perfect landing angle and the picture is perfectly centered, congrats for having such a great photographer.
