I've been busy ordering the extensions for the Reaction, I also found me a 14chl Futaba FASSHS receiver that I was looking for, airlines from Dreamworks and the gear set, all will be here next week, in time for my time off two weeks from now,

Ok, things are moving along nice, the gear set is here, thank you Mike and the USPS for a quick service, as you can see they will do just fine, very little mods to be done ( ahhh, the fun of building again, happy, happy ) once it is all done it will stand about 1 1/2 inches taller than the stock build ones
The air tanks that came with the gear set are fine but, I don't think I will need that much air, I have a smaller air tank for the retracts and an even smaller for the brakes, I will place them above the boat as there is plenty of open space in there and since they are very light their weight won't affect the CG that much if any, the space where the air tank is supposed to go will be used for the ECU, the steering servo will be in the same location, just a bit back to clear the nose wheel, all the extra weight that is been added is been added forward of the CG and that ia a good thing.

Black and Cub Yellow Ultrakote, Tygon fuel line, blades, all on the way from TH, to be here next week.

Now that Horizon owns TH I don't have to swing by the LHS to get these supplies ( sad but convenient )

This is it for that incomplete Reaction, it better be ready for me for the next month I will complete you.

Did the initial work to get the main landing gear figured out, the nice thing about this gear set is that you can flip the trunion fork to swing forward or backward and the compression fork can also be flipped from on side to the other, very convenient, very small mods to fit it in there, used 3mm screws, they fit right in the retract mounting holes, no play and as before, I added another 1/4" ply rails to the retract mounts during construction to add meet to hold the retract screws in place, I don't use blind nuts, my Boomerang XL is this way, this is done in case the main gear has to depart the wing then It will with minimum damage to the rail and wing, it has worked on many builds and counting, the tires have brakes and are hollow, they are to be inflated to your needs but the valves are not in the rims, I prefer to fill them up with inserts like the Robart scale tires that way they are semi-solid.

One other thing I did was to check the gear set completely, made sure all the screws were tight, air nipples too, added locktight to the them also, lube the O rings at the end of the struts, injected some car strut oil, Teflon base to make sure the O rings inside the cylinders were nice and moist, I use 25 weight, by using this oil you can get more cycles out of your gear and on the old retracts the O rings get revitalized and moist.

To be continue next weekend.

That is today!
You are getting close.
I hope your weatherman is nicer to you that ours is. We still have a new R54 in the club that has been ready to maiden for 3 months now.

That is a long time to wait for a maiden, the longest I've waited here has been under two weeks, hope you guys get it done soon, take pictures of the process and post them here.

I just checked the WX for your area and looks good after 12:00 for tomorrow Friday, winds at 6 mph and clear skies.

Ok, all done for tonight, one main gear installed, it took some doing, the other one should get done in 1/2 the time, very happy with the way it came out, I added a 1/2 rib to support the wheel well floor, I also kept the wheel well the size shown on the plans in case I want to go with the 3" wheels later.

Tomorrow I'm planning to do the other main, on the nose I will construct a new gear mount like the one I build for the Turbinator.

We now have both mains installed, I think I'm going to close the rib bays between the retracts and the wheel well, for this I got to go to the LHS to pick up a sheet of 1/16 balsa.

There are some patches around the struts, I was experimenting with a different set of gears but that one didn't pan out, that is the beauty of building with wood, one can change and fix it back to the way it was till your hearts desire.

On to the nose gear mount

There it is, standing on his own legs, although not completely done with the nose gear mount it is cut and just needs some minor adjustments, then I can glue it down tomorrow.

Some work done today, completed the mains by closing the rib bays under the struts and end up with the nose retract on a higher position to keep the steering wires inside the fuse, this one is half way there, should be done by tomorrow.

Ok, the gear in this jet is on and working as intended, it took some doing ( like a billion hours ) the mains were mostly work to be done but the nose gear took some thinking to cut and instal but at the end it all looks good.

Thanks!
I took me a bit of time to get it that way, I'm happy with the end result.
