I pushed the throttle to full a few times, kept it there about 15 seconds every time to see if it would get to the max rpms, what it did was what you just mentioned because it was running at 141,900 first, after the throttle was exercised a few time to max rpms the speed went up to 12,500 and the PW moved from 305 to 310.

I wander if I could reset the throttle loop like how we do it on the JetCat engines.

I had a great day at the flying field today. 6 more flights to a total of 45 flights with my superb mentor Jamie. Total flights on my Reaction is now 51.

I found the answer to my rpm question, I posted on the KT support page, trying to keep this thread a Reaction 54 thread.

Field report, from the flying field.

After the proper checks ( fail safe, range check etc ) were successfuly done it was time to go flying, clear day with light winds and some light X-winds now and then, the TO was straight, fast and absolutely short compared with the previous one with the P60, it absolutely looks more crispier in flight, lots of thrust to go vertical for a long time, loops can be made big and are easy to do, the residual thrust is helping to keep the jet moving up to the final rotation to land.

All in all, a rocket Yes! I do like it this way and will continue flying it with the K80 till the Turbo is ready for it.

A couple of videos will be posted tonight when I get home, in the mean time, I will get another flight in.

Contrary to what some believe, I don't think Bruce designed the Reaction to fly slow. He designed it to have a broad speed range and fly like the old pattern planes. Flying slow is only one of its traits but back then the P60 and Wren 54 were the engines it was built around and were the perfect size.

Thanks guys!

Second flight was awesome! with more verticals, split-S, slow flight, time to check how much fuel left in the main tank.

32 oz left on the main tank after 5 min of flight and one go around, I bet I can fly for another 3 min and do one go around.

Yah! I love this place, the summer afternoons are to die for, the petromat is about a year old, no obstructions at the ends, lots of open space, no houses near = to no people complaining about the noise, friendly hand, a good mix of models, trainers, sport, helis to the side, 43%, warbird, electrics, jets and a few more flying objects.

Compare the TO speeds with P60 @ 13.5 lbs of thrust and the K80 @19.5 lbs of thrust.

TO weight is 24lbs with the P60 and 25lbs with the K80.

76oz of fuel, fight time is about 7 minutes with both engines, because the less thrust needed to fly with the K80 flight time is about the same with both engines, total weight is up with the K80 one pund only, not bad at all.

Went to the flying field with the Reaction, only had a couple of hours to play, with the Reaction it a so easy a caveman can do it ( Geico ) two flights, one thing I learned today, no more hot fueling, the Xicoy ECU did not liked it.

With the K80 this thing is a rocket, veticals go forever, I was doing loops after loops.

All in all a nice quick afternoon full of joy and sun shine

One more thing, Kingtech support is the best, I colled Dirk, left a massage, he called me back within 5 min. I call that excellent support.

And now for the next two days is uncle Sam's time, TAXES grrrrrrr, I rather be flying

You better stop flying it. It's only going to make it harder putting the P-60 back in it :-)
