Dave,
Just go to the RCU marketplace and look at: http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=85139
That bad boy will do 180+ with a P-60...and Obviously, you have no need to go over 200.........
Adios,
John

I am sure the Jetco will do around 200mph with a 12lb turbine . It is smaller than the Bobcat and almost identical in configuration. David Gladwin had had his Bobcat timed at 199 mph!

True, but the Bobcat is a slouch compared with the StarJet. Much smaller and slimmer airframe with a thin but very clever wing. I think the StarJet would be pushing 200 with a Wren 44 and with a Supersport, well !!
Just off to fly my L39 if our field has dried out .
Regards,
David Gladwin.

And the good thing about a Stingray is, when it is doing 200 mph, it LOOKS like it is only doing 300.......

Hey Matt, ever fly your Stingray on the P-70?

If you prefer a scale model to a sport job the AMD Hawk should be good for around 180mph with a 12 lb turbine. It will have around 1:1 thrust/ weight. Have a look at the build thread run by SJN he is going to fly his soon.
I think he likes quick ones!

Hi Kelly,
Oh no, I saw one fly and shelved that idea fast. I have a P-60 for it, and have the P-70 earmarked for a Reaction 54.
The Stingray has been done (ready for paint) for months, have been busy with real job and my growing family.
Plus I forgot how to fly, that really makes me want to run out and finish that speeding bullet.

So how fast would that make the Bobcat with a P70?

[In the USA, it would still only reach a maximum of 200 mph; in the rest of the world the aircraft would go faster. The difference is due to the aircraft hitting the AMA Barrier - that's a phenomenon which is kinda like the sound barrier, but lower due to the air (or maybe the bureauc-rats) over here being more dense than elsewhere.

That's been proven to be fact based again since the rigged election!

RE: 200MPH JetCat P60 airframe?
Got to agree there Jeremy. I'm putting a Wren Supersport (18lbs thrust) into my Super Bandit and don't expect to get 200mph.
These models have more drag due to the ducted fuselage than the Bobcat or Stingray which are very clean aerodynamically.
I think a P60 in a 18 / 19lb Bandit would be marginal anyway.

Remeber when the original bandit was designed around a 11 lb at best JPX??? I know things have changed in turbine design, but still the point it the same. I know the Super balsa bandit is great on a P-70. You don't need a 1:1 ratio for these planes to fly fast enough and perform well.
BTW the Bobcat composite is really fun on a P-60, my personal favorite combo.
