RE: SM F-15
Hi Freddy,
My demo f15 has the Jetcat 120 turbine, it has more than enough power for this bird. even with the full missile and tank/ rail load attached to fuse and wing, there is no problem. This model is a good choice as your first turbine model.

Hi Freddy,
I have a P120 on my SM F15 and I would say it is adequate . Anything smaller and it would be marginal.
With a P80 the airplane struggles and isnt fully aerobatic.
Not a very fast airplane even with a P120

Freddy,
I ran a simjet 2300(25 lb thrust) in mine.It seemed just right.I would not have wanted less in mine.It had flaps/ailerons and a Tamjet smoker.Good vertical, and would takeoff grass fully loaded(40 oz smoke oil) in 200 ft.Any more blow won't push it any faster,as the F-15 is a draggy airframe. The gear doors are good for 10-15 mph.Airplane runs in the 150-170 range.A little more out of a bombastic dive.Slows down wonderfully, and can really do some high alpha stuff with good controllablility. You will like this jet.Good luck1[8D]

I am working on an Avonds Eagle (similar size), and it will be powered by 2 (!!!) homebuilt engines in the 35lbs thrust range.....a little overpowered, but i've seen it fly great on 2 20 lb engines of the same weight, and i can always throttle back...
You can call that sick, but what the hell .
As to the weight issue.....the eagle will fly fine on 30 lbs dry without any problems, i've seen it. Don't worry, that design can take a hell of a load

Great info guys, keep it comming. Here is another? Has anybody used the Jet Tiwan wheels and brakes being offered in the combo? Is the Airpower setup better?
Thanks again for the info. I have read countless threds about this model and just sorting out some things before I buy.

Hi All the SMF15 pilots:
I have a SM F15 with factory painted air superiority cammo, airpower gears wheel and brake. I originally order the blue/red/white, but factor y sent me this more expensive cammo kit. I am going to put a RAM1000 in it. I think the power is ok. As a rookie in jet, I am more concern about the cammo that blends into the sky too well. Any way to improve it's visibility? I am thinking about getting the tanks and missiles on it. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks,

Thanks for the response. I am thinking along the lines of a Artes Super Eagle 30Lbs thrust.
Would this be to heavy or to much engine?
Thanks Freddy

RE: SM F-15
Your choice of our Artes Super Eagle will not disappoint you at all. It was my choice of turbine for my SM F-15. Initially started out with another turbine and flew OK. However when i installed the Super Eagle the picture changed.
I dialed mine down from 128,000 RPM to 124,000 RPM which makes for a very nice combination. Fuel consumption with varied throttle allows for a comfortable 8 minutes with reserve. Vertical performance is unlimited. . .yes unlimited.
There are several fliers her in Florida who are using the same combination (Super Eagle and SM F-15) without dialing down the RPM. OH MY, if you are looking for flat out fast, start out with it turned down and when you are comfortable with the F-15's performance, dial it up to 128,000 and enjoy. Any questions, drop me an email or give me a call. As for fit. . .drops right in with NO mount midification necessary.
Best regards,
Eric Clapp

RE: SM F-15
Hello All
I have seen it fly/flown it with the SuperEagle. Gobs of power = lots of fun
Steve
20 mm to 25 mm each side of center for aileron. Flap 60 deg if you want. But has tons of drag at that setting. I have mine set at 15 deg and around 55 for second notch.
Mike
Against hazy skys the camo is hard to see. If you are flying against blue skys not too bad. The tanks help for visability but add some drag. If you fly with all 3 tanks it gets real draggy but if you have a 28 + lbs turbine not a problem you just have to watch the speed bleed off as you throttle down. 2 tanks are not too bad, belly tank only ... you hardly notice it is there. PS The tanks make nice skids if you have a gear problem.

RE: SM F-15
I find it interesting to see reference to 60 degree flap settings for the F-15 eagle. The full scale craft has only one flap setting.....either down or up and it is a 30 degree deflection. The same setting is used for both takeoff and landing.

Hi Matt, good to hear from you.......hoping I can get out there again soon! No, mine is the early version C model, got it for a good price here on rcu (only had 7 flights on it). Wish I could bring it sometime, but not sure I'll have room in the Challanger (esp. if I have 11 pax!). [&o] But who knows, maybe I can work something out! I'm looking foreward to seeing the titan perform. Hows the vertical with this combination? Take care and hope to be out to the field soon.

RE: SM F-15
Thanks for all the replies. I now have my airframe it has a custom camo with weathering paint job. I also have two sets of wings, A/F wings and straight wings. I still have some stuff to buy( UAT and some more servos and support items). I will buy the turbine later this winter to be ready to fly next season. It looks like the Eagle will be my choice, for what I have to spend I will get the most for my money.
I have another question about the SM F-15. Could one buy a second set of stock fiberglass SM tanks and use the two large tanks to setup the fuel system like the GM kevlar tanks? Use the center tank as a smoke tank, or take out the center tank if not using smoke.

RE: SM F-15
Hi Freddy
Thats the setup I have now in my f-15. Sorry the setup is not that neat. I dremeled the bulkhead down under the front tanks and it was a tight fit but I got them in and used goop to gule the tanks in. The UAT is under the right main tank infront of the bulkhead next to the intake.
Sounds like you are on the way with the F-15. If you need any help over the phone don't hesitate to call. You can get hold of me through Airpac, or PM me.
Front tank for smoke. 50% atf 50% pump diesel experimental flight works pump using a FMA speed controler and 730 mah lipo for a light weight smoke system.
