Take the cover off and look chances are one of the pipes is not pushed in properly to the festo or one of them is loose

Thanks Xairflyer, I'll check that too. I've read many of your posts on these turbines, they are great!

Andy is still in business. However the last year has seen him go thru some very difficult times in his personal/family life. He had to step away for a while. I talked to him two weeks ago and he said he is now trying to get his shop back "up to speed" and update his website. He is in the process of moving his shop (same city just different building) but told me he would monitor his e-mails and reply as quickly as he can (his CRX Designs is his "second job") so he may not reply immediately but he will reply.

Daz990:
I had a similar problem in my JJ1800 that I saw same fuel under my plane. I removed the cowing (front cover) and discovered two things. I had leak in the in the fuel line that comes out of the Festo type "T" under the cowling. This is the T that feeds the fuel to the combustion chamber as well as provides the fuel/oil to the bearings. I also found that the "T" had a small crack in it. I sent it back to Andy and he did the repairs for a very reasonable price. I now have about 39 hours on my 1800 and just began running it on Diesel (using the King Tech oil) . Could not be happier as it starts every time and runs very well.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for your reply, that sounds very much like the problem I am having. I shall inspect that T joint and look for cracks.
Many thanks.

I PM'd duraflame yesterday and not heard back. I included my phone number.

Ed thanks for your continued support. It is no secret, my wife died after a 5 year struggle with Ovarian cancer. I have young kids so the impact is unfathomable to most that have not been through it. I am in the middle of a move so I am limited in what I can do but still engaging customers and no I have not dropped off the face of the earth. Just catching my breath and getting family matters in order...

Andy, This is Troy Colby, aka "duraflame". Based on your post you probably didn't realize it was me. I got the engine back from Jason a couple of weeks ago and it runs perfect. Thanks for all your help in getting this done. Hope to see you CRX up and running soon as I have a fleet of engine that will need maintenance! Take care.

Hi Andy,
I went through this valley back in '95 when my wife died from Sickle Cell Anemia complications and we had three children (9, 4, and 2) so I can empathize with you. I've been calling and e-mailing but now I know why and will give you the time you need to recover. You can do it! I did! By the way, I have a new JJ 3000 and need a flight accessory pack . Take care. Hi everyone,

Just some quick questions about JetJoe turbines:

1) What do you look out for regarding the condition of the bearings?
2) I've read that some people remove the rear O ring which makes the turbine wheel nut spring back upon pressing it. Have you carried out this operation and what are your thoughts on it?

Many thanks,
Dariusz.

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is any meaning in the serial numbers of the jj1400? Mine is 04133, I want to check if this model has the better combustion chamber.

Cheers,
Dariusz.

The o-ring is there to stop the outer race from turning with the inner race. I have left the o-ring out on many occasions and not had an issue. Either way make sure the bushing slides freely before you put your engine back together.

Hi Andy,
The last time we talked, you mentioned that you had a pipe you had made that was approximately 15 to 20 inches long that you'd sell me. Were you ever able to locate it?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi guys,
I am considering taking apart my jj1400 and giving it a good clean but I have never taken it apart before and I was wandering if anyone has any thoughts/ experience as to whether it is a risky operation. I know I need to reapply threadlocking compound to some of the screws and take note of the compressor alignment with the shaft. Are there any others things to be wary of before doing it?
Thanks,
Dariusz.
