Good idea about posting if you want some of the BBQ Duk. It will be a lot easier that way to let Tam know what the count is.

So far we have: Duk Duk, Terry, Markdam, Larry and myself for the BBQ. Anyone else that wants some food please post so we can get enough.

Here are the directions:

From the north: 5 south, exit hwy 58 turn right (west), go to the second left by the big tanks and turn left on WASCO rd, go over the tracks and make your second right on BRITE rd., the road will bend 90 deg to the left and you will go over the aqueduct, turn rt on the first rd right after the agueduct, follow the road and STAY TO THE RIGHT, you will get to a gate which will be unlocked if I am there, the field is on the right. (all 4000ft of it)

From the south: 5 north, exit Hwy 58 turn left and go over the freeway, then pick up on the directions above.

For those of you that are flying in the airport code is L62.

HWY 58 and the 5 has a few hotels and a few fast food restaurants if needed.

Jorge and I are game for some BBQ.

Dave, the super hornet is in the paint booth. But we can do some formation flying with the KingCat. And... The desert spa thingie was actually fun. Got kicked out of bed by the earthquake. We where 10 miles from the epicenter. Dunno who hit the ground first. Me or the TV that came flying of the shelf.

What's the program for Saturday night in case we decide to leave LA a day early.

This event is beginning to sound more and more like The Bad News Bears final game in the sand lot.

Hey Kenny,

Why not make it a two days event for those who can only fly on Saturday. I can only make it on Saturday. Have a big yellow 18 with a p-200 to test out.

Paul, that's awsome....dont remember seeing that section under Johns poll or I would have defenately cast my vote.

DUK DUK, last time I was at Tams I saw a 5 gallon bucket of Smoke Juice...It will be on the packing list for the trailer.

Cant come Saturday night, my buddy is having a Barbecue in Burbank that I wont miss.

John, Im sure that you will make due with one of Sung's 1,500 "Other" planes for you to choose from. Note to self: (put kneepads on Christmas list for John Christensen.....his are pretty much worn out.)

John Redman????? Where are you bud? You comin?

Cant wait!!

Dave,

I may be nedeing kneepads to make up for my last "landing" with one of Sungs planes... See video below. Had an engine out on a pig heavy Yellow P-38. Not pretty. but, it is the first one of his planes I have crashed.

We can't make it up until Sunday morning. Jorge has dinner plans. So, we will leave L.A. aound 6AM and be there before 9.

John,
Just looked like a slight dihedral adjustment to me.

Yeah, the dihedral was adjusted slightly. The speed looked OK for the engine out landing, but we where at 5200 ft. AGL... At least I crashed close to where we where standing so we did not have to walk far to pick up the remains.[8D][:-]

One engine was stuck at idle, so I had a lot of rudder put in to compensate for the adverse yaw. I was 5 minutes into the flight when Sung wanted to fly her. I was just about to hand him the transmitter when the engine started sagging. So, instead of pretending everything was OK and handing him the TX, I tried to nurse her back to the field. I should have given him the TX instead. That way, he would now have been to owner of the "Smacked *****" T-shirt and not me.

Yellow P-38's are notoriously difficult to fly on one engine. The thin air in Colorado did not help the situation. But, she is repairable.

Yellow P-38's are very heavily wing loaded and notoriously difficult to land with both engines running. Nice try, Im sure you had your hands full!

John, if you have time you should swing by the basin on Saturday for our pylon race and see what its like when ama doesnt tell you how fast you are allowed to go. We never have any pictures of our races because nobody is able to capture these things with a camera.......but I do know somebody who is pretty damnn good with a lenz?? At least swing by and we can coordinate meeting up Sunday morning and caravan together. Im not sure what hotel we are staying at, but I am sure its not going to be more then 5 to 10 minutes from the basin. We could all probably meet up at the Denny's right there at the Best Western, or something like that.
Let me know if your gonna be able to swing by.

Later,
Dave

Dave, I will probably stop by at the Basin on Saturday afternoon.

Looks like Joe Castelao is going also. His TamJets F-18 is ready to be test flown. Still need to check with the Edwards brothers. and Jason P. Will call Redman also.

Kenny,

What is the morning fog situation like a this time of year? Joe is planning to fly the Cessna up there and have us bring the Hornet for him.

For those that want to fly on Saturday I will be there all day. I will try to get to the field as close to 9 as possible.

John there normaly is no fog this time of year, just beautiful clear skies. The 10 day out look on the Weather Channel did say partly cloudy skies but it will change by then. It also was calling for 86 deg. The fog should be no factor though.
