THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET

RE: THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET
Miguel,
I'm sure turbine pushing is not an issue with turbine placement, As you can see here, I cut off the fuse at the gray paint portion of the tail, I also moved the turbine as far forward on rail mounts as possible without altering them as the tanks would not fit by extending rails forward. The pipe exit however is still exiting in original position as I made the new exit former prior to cutting off tail end. I did have to shim turbine mounts to achieve a straight thru centerline. I accomplished this by making a dummy turbine out of PVC pipe with end caps. Using a laser beam in front cap, shooting thru a small hole in rear cap, I then insured the laser spot was centered in rear exit by placing a piece of paper over it with cross hairs in center. My Viper has no additional ballast to achieve center c/g location of OEM......
I do fly kangaroos, bobcats, and Kingcats so I know what pushing is and the Viper Jet MKII has none of that. Go for it.......

Kevin,
As for crow, YOU need to go for it, next time your field charging batteries you could do a seperate aileron lead........
My first turbine was a Kangaroo, being anal about weight and c/g positions and methods of measuring I not once kangarood it and its still in new condition, HOWEVER I've KANGAROoo'ed the Kingcat half a dozen times until I went to crow mix for landing.

RE: THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET
I dont use crow on the KC unless is very windy, full flap only is fine they are like barn doors. Its the only jet ive ever flown that will land at 20mph, unbelievable. Having said that for aerobatics and looks in the air the viper beats it and at about 1/5 of the price.

20mph with an average 10mph headwind, so your onboard telemetry is spot on. But in tests i did it definitely landed slower with full flap and no crow (so i have it switched seperately) than with flap and crow. The roll out on grass is well under 100ft, no brakes.

Yes its in my room, I live where its Hot as Hell, so untill I spring for an A/C I just build em in my kitchen

Well you wont regret that move mu2driver! The Viper is the first scale jet ive flown that needs very little mixing for full aerobatics without correction.

RE: THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET
Well Im impressed already with it! Looks like a well built airframe, the wings are heavy but very strong!
I have it almost ready to fly, just waiting for Robart to get my gear and im set...
I just looked and my name is finaly on the Waiver list...
All in all not a bad buy for 800 bux...

RE: THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET
err yeh, comapred to the giant scale aeros these jet airframes are a bit on the heavy side, esp. the Viper. But at 100mph theres no lack of lift, just dont try Walls...

RE: THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET
Yeah im hoping for 200, from everyone I have talked to they all say its a real good flyer, just a pain to put together at the field..
This one is setup with 8411's on Flaps, 9411's on Elev. and Aileron, 8611A on Rudder
From Tam I got the Wing Light kit, Smoke pump, Fod Screen with festo fittings, Smooth stop, ext....
Now I will call him and get some more stuff...

RE: THE RETURN OF THE VIPERJET
Mine isnt dead centre its a little high on alignment with the pipe, but is about 1in. away from the end of the pipe (ie 1in. gap between the end of the p120 tail cone and the beginning of the stainless pipe). I couldnt find an elegant way for the bypass to fit correctly around the turbine and get the tail cone dead centre. Although this seems to work fine and temperature inside the rear is barely above ambient for the duration of a flight.

Carlos Yes I sure am, I will leave early Friday and grab a Hotel, should be a blast man! ViperJet Formation?
Alan, I bought this thing used and it had the Robarts, I called Tam and he did have any available gear he wanted to sell...I just want something reliable and if these Robarts are not I will try Behotec next...
