Super Jet South - Georgia Jets Event Coverage
Hello everybody,
Today, Jerry Caudle announced the cancellation of Super Jet Week 2005 on www.pro-mark.com. As part of Jerry's website posting he also announced that the Georgia Jets Flying Club is hosting the Super Jet South Event to be held at the Georgia Jets Airfield near Peachtree City, Georgia over approximately the same dates that Super Jet Week was scheduled to happen. Please note that Georgia Jets regrets the cancellation of Super Jet Week and is hosting this event as an alternative venue to the jet pilot community since the FAA has disallowed the use of the Metropolis Airport as the venue for Super Jet Week 2005.
The details are currently being worked out as to the exact dates over which this event will take place. Tentative dates are from Thursday, September 29 through Sunday, October 2, however, please note that these dates are not yet official. The exact dates, hotel information and other pertinent data will be posted on the Georgia Jets website at www.georgiajets.org within the next day or two.
For planning purposes, it would be very helpful if we could get an idea as to how many people will end up coming to the Super Jet South Event. So, please let us know ASAP if you plan on attending.
Thanks,
Gordon Dickens

Not trying to be a smart one, but I loved the way he put it. Because of all the crap on RCU, this event was cancelled. While some thought they where doing everyone a favor, it just made the situation worse. Maybe we can learn from this and leave the FAA out of the forums.

I LOVE IT:
"Due to the actions of a few jet community modelers and the idiotic chatter on the internet (by a few self elected experts who know almost nothing of the true facts) the FAA has been backed into a corner and in turn rendered a decision to disapprove the Super Jet event 2005."
To have been in the room and hear educated people say that "people on an internet chat forum" helped blow up a jet event.
Blows me away how people put credence to what goes on in these forums. Incredible.

Will be nice to publish which vendors will attend...

I don't know for sure yet about most of the vendor folks. Frank Tiano (FTE) called today and said that he was coming and Jerry Caudle (ProMark) also said he was coming but that is all that I have for now.
FYI,

RE: Super Jet South Event - Superman Alternative
Hi Justin, Mike, Tommy, Bob, Patrick and Malcom;
Thanks for the head count information! Great news that you and your friends will be able to attend. I have received a good many private emails and phone calls from other folks that are planning on attending as well. We are going to have a great turnout for a fun week of flying! Everybody else please continue to let us know if you decide to attend for headcount purposes. Post here or send me a PM.
BTW, I spoke to Bob Violett this morning and he will also be attending our event. Several people have been inquiring about the vendors so we can add BVM to the list of vendors which includes Jerry Caudle (Pro-Mark) and Frank Tiano (FTE) as well.
FYI,
Gordon

Gordon,
Do you think we could have an "informal" get together on Friday night for all those interested, so that we can have "clear the air" meeting about all of this went down and how it could be prevented or circumvented in the future? With players like BV, JC, and FT there it would be gret to hear from them on how this thing went south, or at least their interpretation it. We all need to be on the same page here, and this might offer something we could use in the future.
Thanks for all your help, hope to be there Wednesday night and burning kero by Thursday morning.
Tommy
