Will Whiteside racing at Reno.
Will left the hobby for a while to do a little flying of a different type. After 10 straight days of flying he ended up 2nd in the Reno National Air Races Sport Class Bronze catagory at about 256MPH.

Ah-ha! Now that's where he's been. Congratulations Will. He was still flying the Mibo A-10 when I last talked with him at Fresno Jets 04' and he was saying that his true passion is full scale air racing. Nice job! If I know you, we'll see you racing in more categories as well.

Thanks for the attaboys guys! I did move back to my hometown of Santa Rosa and decided to get back into fullscale flying. Lots of my buddies up here are into warbirds so I dove in. Last April, I bought a 1952 Harvard MKIV so I could learn to fly a P51 Mustang that is owned by a friend. After 150 hours in it, I just sold the Harvard to buy into a partnership in a Yak 3 but it fell through last week. It turns out it actually takes money to play with THESE models! I am now looking for a couple partners in a 2 seat, dual control Sea Fury T20 to race up at Reno, Tunica and Tuscon. If I cannot put that program together, I will settle for another Glasair III with a big engine to run around in the silver at 270mph. If we really go out on a limb we could probably find a Lancair Legacy to run lower-mid gold with. (Pretty big$$$) We had SO much fun being up at Reno last year that I just cant see not being involved next year. I'll include a couple of pics of the festivities at Reno. As far as the modeling goes,I really miss flying with you guys. I'd like to find someone to fund a, scale military Jet Tam. (WOULDNT WE ALL!)I had to sell all mine to buy gas for the Harvard Tam. We will probably be looking for another crewmember mid next year if the right guy were interested.

Mr. Harmon is based at my field. It is a joy to see him take the Harmon Rocket III out and do near vertical take offs on his way to breakfast! He is opening a restaurant right next to my flight school called "Rocket Cafe" I believe. He threatens me with a ride sometimes... OK I threaten him for a ride, but I haven't been in one yet. Can't wait for the day!
