Default Jet Legend F-15 Kit

Ok..After several emails that were always answered within a day or two, I decided to order the F-15 Kit from Jet Legend.
Shortly after my order, I received a conformation email along with a tracking number for DHL carrier. Not counting the long Holiday, I received the kit three days later.
The box arrived in surprisingly good condition after its long journey from China. (Thanks DHL.)
When I opened the box, I saw everything was neatly packed, and organized. I found the kit to be of good quality, which included the decals, well laid out rolled plans, a carbon fiber bypass, formers and hardware to assemble this kit. Jet Legend even includes a dual walled bifurcated turbine pipe and fuel tanks with the kit all at $630.00 (US) + shipping.
Inspecting the inside of the fuselage you can see carbon fiber cloth reinforcing the high stress areas. Both the wings and fuse have molded panel lines, and there didn’t appear to be any pinholes in the exterior surfaces.
With the exception of some sanding and filling of the seam lines, and a little fitting work on the ailerons and flaps, this kit looks to be an easy build.
Jet Legend delivered everything as promised, and I’m looking forward in checking out some of their other jets in the future.

David,

I’ll keep everyone posted if I come across anything on the build that I didn’t like. The only thing I see so far is the aileron, and flaps do not completely fit into the wing cut outs, but an easy fix being a kit. The wings skin go beyond the T.E. blocks, acting as a hinge gap cover on both the front and sides of the aileron, and flaps. A little trimming on the sides of this area will allow the parts to fit better, without cutting into the actual wing nor aileron/ flaps.

I simply cannot beleive all the stuff you got for $635. [X(]
I wouldn't mind doing a lot of trimming for that price.

What retracts is it setup for? What turbine will you be using?

Looks good Steven!you WILL have many eyes glued to your thread as JL's quality ,service, etc. has been questioned. Many will be looking to see what you do/don't like about the kit as you proceed thru the build. That certainly is a great value for those whom don't mind building. You said you were looking for a F-15 to build & carry you thru the cold NY winter months.Good luck my friend & enjoy the build![8D]

One question I have tho,I wonder why they smoked the canopy on a scale bird?

Steven,
that 15 is perfect for your P80, much better than the Yellow 18/80 combo for a first turbine. Get her built and give me a call when you want to test fly her. Also give me a call for any building questions you might have.
Regards,
Chris

Guys if you go to the website, they have some awesome semi-scale oleos dirt cheap! Even for the "trailing linkeage" F-18 mains.

I sincerely hope that Jet Legend becomes the first succesful chinese import, perhaps an F-15/Jet Joe RTF combo in the future for say $1500?

Apparently no one was paying attention, just as they aren't now as they're buying these Skymaster ripoffs.

Skymaster says THEY designed these planes.
Jet Legend is very clear that THEY say they did, and Skymaster was just a sales agent that did not pay their bills.
Unless YOU are privy to what actually happened between Anton Lin and Sparks, then YOU really don't know the truth, do you? I don't.
Where is the tooling? At the Sparks factory? Are the current Skymaster ones from new tooling at a new factory?

I have to say, too, at $630, this is an incredible bargain.
Where the wood parts go, I saw full-sized plans in that other thread about this bird.

Welll...OVERcharging may not be quite the right word. Most items like this are marked up 100% through their distribution network. Knock out the distribution network, it's not a big surprise that the price is HALF or even less.
But you DO lose something. The local support. You have to deal direct with China if you have a problem. Which sometimes works fine, sometimes not.
But you are not paying for all of the advertising, inventory, profit, going to jet meets, all the stuff that comes with having a US distributor.

Is the value of the distributor overrated and overstated? You have to decide. I've ordered plenty of stuff from overseas from companies that have no US distribution, with great success. And some frustrations. But I've had frustrations with US distributors, too.

And as far as the story of who's zoomin' who, who ripped whom off, well, Sparks' story sounds just as plausible as Skymaster's one.
