Default Kangaroo: 4 or 2 Elevons?

So should I glue my elevons together and use 1 servos per side vice the 2 per side? Any advantage to having 4 over 2? 4 seems like a pain to set up.

and if you use only 2 what servos torque do i need.

Thanks,
Lawrence

I bonded mine together with hysol, and used JR 8611's. Very easy to do....

I prefer to use 2 servos on Hotspots and Roos... no regrets until now, only exception was my
new HS that was built and modified for a speed event using 4 servos.
About the torque, 100 oz/inch servos will do if you are using a 20 lbs thrust class turbine.(of course, with the correct linkage setup).

Hello.

In only two servos system, any problem between receiver and only one of the elevons horns is a model lost.
In the Casar Jet (Spain) a hard landing damaged the elevons servo gaers, in the next fly the model crash.

Hola Mberme..estava esperando que alguien hiciera esta observacion! I was just waiting for
someone to make this observation... the problem is of course that a 2 servo elevon controlled airplane is vulnerable in this way, and adding a 4 servo set seems to be a good idea at first, but it is not.

It is almost impossible to control a roo or a HS with just a elevon and a half, in case of a single servo failure in a set of 4 with split elevons..and now you just have more components to fail,
more current consumption, weight and complexity.

This vulnerability is fixed only in one way IMO, adding a conventional elevator or canards.

And about that crash, is always a good idea to check things with great care, specially after a rough landing...

Saludos, Enrique

In mine I joint the elevon halves and still used tow JR8611 conected to a matchbox. Of course way overkill, but I did it because the guy who build the plane for me did not sand any glue area. So I dismantle the jet and almost rebuild it again.
Elevons were allraedy glued so I decide to use two servos just in case the glue joints failed.

Hola MBERME:

Tú tubiste mala suerte, cuantas veces fallan los servos en la vida de un avión?
Tu had bad luck, how many times the servos broken in the life of a plane?

La cuestión es en cuanto tiempo es necesario cambiar los servos al avión?
The question is in how many time is necesary for change the servos in the plane?

Tú cambias el aceite en tu coche cada 15.000km y los filtros y otras cosas.
You change the oil in your car each 15.000km and the filters and another things.

Por que no cambiar los servos?
Why no change the servos?

Buena cuestión, no crees?
Good question, do you think?
