Would not be possible to adapt the starter engine in the cone exhaust instead of constructing a gearbox with starter.

Even with air cooling, I think it gets too hot back there.

Its mostly like an airstart turbine.... dont think an electric starter motor would last in 600c exhaust gas temps.

True, but I am amazed that there is still no commercially available turbo-fan engine. Closest thing available is a turbo-prop.

There was also this turbofan developed for a harrier project, but this has gone quiet as well...
