Default Electric Viper Video

I've been working on an EDF conversion of a BVM Viper for a couple months now and it is starting to bear fruit [8D]. Take a peak:

LOL! I'll have to think about that. The shipping bill is worse than the airfare to get out there.

Chris great job! What fan are you using? I still have a NIB Viper that we talked about doing just this at the NEAT Fair this year. Now I'm really wanting to do it after seeing your flight video.

I'm using a Wemotec HW-750 which is a 125mm fan. Unfortunately it is out of production at the moment[]

There are some other possibilities that if anything may work better! Schuebeler will have a 120mm fan in not too long, there is another guy in the UK who has a 108MM fan that'll work with the stock nozzle size of 85mm, with the 125mm fan or the Schubi you need a 4" nozzle which is JUST possible. Wemotec is supposed to come out with a 120mm injection molded fan but I don't know when - maybe this winter.

If you want to go for it I'd just build it and leave out the exhaust ducting. Everything else is fine, iy you are good with glass remove the center spinner fairing on the inlets and glass the area flat. The spinner fairing isn't needed since the fan gets moved way back for balance purposes. I connected the inlet with the front of the fan with a long tube made from 1 layer of rolled 1/64" ply.

Thanks Chris, I have the new fan from Schuebeler on my Xmas list right now. Imay just do as you suggest and build up the airframe and wait for the fan to show up.

Cool, I do have one Lehner 2250-14 motor which should be around the right one - might need a 13 or 15 depending on cell count. I'm on the list for the Schubi too so we can conspire on which wind to order. Motors take a while to get!

The Steve Nue 1912-1Y ORK I have in the 750 is superb but it is about a millimeter to big in diamter for the schubi...

He told me about 2 weeks maybe three, I'm having him make the inlet ducts too.
I really pumped on this conversion. Interesting fellow Klaus is.
