Default Skymaster Hawk stab servo?

What is the feeling on using a single Hitec HS5955TG on the stab. Apart from not having the redundancy of using 2 servos (major point) what other negatives could there be? It certainly should have enough torque, on not?

The stabs are balanced.

Any thoughts?

ITH,
The Hitec HSC5955TG has 333oz torque, much more than enough for the require. (recommend ant servo over 200 oz torque) But I think the key is the linkage. Make sure the linkage is storge. You might use 2 linkages in singel sevor set up too. (like giant scale planes).

I used a single 8611a with no issues.

Single 8611A has proven to be more than adequate for the hawk if the correct geometry is used. Specs on the HSC5955TG look promising but have no personal experience with them...

Yes geometry's the key here I agree, but I just thought that as I am using them in my 40% aerobatic planes and they can handle all the heavy 3D stuff with no problems so far, why not on the stab of the hawk. Certainly lighter than 2 x 8611 plus it is programmable so no matchbox, 330oz of torque sounds ok to me.

Just checking if anyone has done it yet. Maybe i'll be the first and if so I'll let you all know how it goes.

ITH

I am using this servo on my SM Hawk stab, have not yet flown the model. Specs look good and I have used Hitec exclusively on jets for three years with only one defective HS5945MG which was picked up on test before installing in model.

I note from pre threads on servos types that 8411 is the best ailerons, i am in the process of building one of these fine kits ,but after a lot of head scratching and studying David Gladwin
pictures in his review in jet int, i cannot see how these will go in without opening the servo boxes up ,or mounting to blocks outside the box and fixing permantly to the skin,
there must be a way of making these fit any ideas, just before i dive in with the razor saw!

I believe David Gladwin's review is 9411 which is smaller then 8411. However, I think 3421 should have no problem for Hawk's ailerons. I know a lot of customers just use 3421 without any issue.

Could 8611a's be used on all surfaces? I love this plane. Doubling up the elevator servo might not just be for the tourque but also to spread the load between 2 gear trains. In GS apps this is often the case. How long does the sale go for? DW is closed this week!~*(.

Joe,
You can use 8611A for most of surface. But the rudder and ailerons will have not enough space for the thickness of servos.

Send me a e-mail for your contact info. We can extend some time of the special price for you to decide. Please let me know soon, since we don't have too many left.

Eric,
Include me in your list. I certainly can use another one!
