Ok since you asked, how about making a Nice Mig 29 under $4000.00 "complete" without having to hack it to make it airworthy ?
Size of an Avonds F-15 or slightly larger.
Power, P-120 size or comparable

RE: What jet guy like to be built?
From the words "build", "plans" and "cut yourself" i take he wants a wood shack to self-assemble like in the good old prop days (remember those thin longish rotating parts up front that made a lot of noise and really hurt your fingers?).
My opinion is that most jets are not suited for a wood construction, at least not when it is supposed to look like the real thing. Scale jets seem to get really crowded really fast...not much room for formers, stringers and supports as would be neccessary. In order to achieve the strength necessary at the room available, composite fuselages are probably the best way to go....taking all the wind out of the all-wood-at-no-cost-thinking.
While this probably holds true for most jets, there are some that wold probably be "doable". Thinking of an Dassault AlphaJet, Aermacci or similar...they offer the space needed, plus a layout that would be favorable for some woodworking.
But then again: composite gives you a great almost ready to paint surface, potentially with panel detail, right out of the mold, at less weight and higher strength.
Just a thought...
regards

RE: What jet guy like to be built?
Anyone thinking of producing a Jet kit from wood, really needs to think about how difficult it will be to actually build.
What you don't want is something with multiple curves , that require tedious and slow planking with 1/4" wide strips, look at the Zirolli Panther nice framework but lots of difficult work to sheet it.
Something like the F15, F14, Tornado that can be built with more square lines & flatter sections.
You want a ply framework of formers and stringers that can be basically put together in your hands then sheeted with 3" wide balsa, something that will be easy to build and not take a year of gluing on planking and tons of sanding.
