Hi Gidusko,
I preordered one too. I decided to go for a Wren 44 Gold or any 7-8 lbs engine instead, like a simjet. I think a P 60 might be too powerful and need a bigger tank. If I use a Wren 44 gold as I did on my other jets, I can use a bigger tank and extend the flight time to 12 minutes or more. That will give me enough time to practice and enough time for my instructor to have some fun. That's my 2 cents.

I went over to Chris's house last week to determine how much fuel we could get in there. I'm still leaning towards the P60 and want atleast 60oz of fuel onboard. we determined you could fit a 12oz dubro and an 8 oz dubro underneath the stock 40oz Dubro with ease.
however, I'm still looking forward to component install and electronic layout also. the 44 would be your best bet but a P60 would fit also as well as a 54. no problem at all as far as I could tell
cute little bugger for sure!!

Do you think by looking inside a jetcat p-60 will fit with enough fuel for good flight times

RE: My New A7 ARF for Wren 44
Hi Guys,
Sorry to have been a bit absent. I'm still getting settled into my new place. The A-7 is coming along. As was mentioned I just recently moved, so a friend of mine is actually working on the hardware install still while I get my new workshop up and running. I've got more space now, so should be able to pump out airplanes better. Though, I think that's a function of time rather than space...dang!
We're in the process of redesigning the main landing gear so that it will be a drop in stand alone unit as opposed to just the struts as was shown earlier in this thread (yes, these will still be included with the introductory offering). The whole assembly will just bolt into place and be ready for air line fitting. The design is almost finished so hopefully we will have the first prototypes to test in the next couple weeks. We're also finalizing the production stuff for the airplane.
Unfortunately, I can't post any pictures because I don't have the airplane. This weekend I should be able to get my workshop built and then bring the airplane back to finish it up what's left! I will keep you posted.

RE: My New A7 ARF for Wren 44
Hi Guys,
Finally I have some pictures to post! The airplane is on its legs. We now have two prototypes getting ready to fly...the Edwards bird and the second, desert storm. The desert storm paint scheme is also one we are looking to offer in addition to the Edwards AFB paint. These are on their way to the Toledo trade show, so will be finished up and flown on their return. Probably not in time for BITW, but likely a week or two after the event.

I got a look at the A7s this weekend. They look good and the 44 should be a perfect fit. I like the Desert Storm scheme. It will definietly be the hot seller next to the primmered version. JHH has a nice setup of smaller size jets. I can see them making their F4 Phanthom an arf....now wouldnt that be great. The word is June for the release of the kits........if I got it right

Hi All,
I'd seen the A7 at the Best in the West. These are the photos taken by Eric of Airpac. Nice paint job on the desert storm.
Buck, I got invited to get some stick time las weekend. Barry was there too. Will tell you all more later about this. I am excited about this SLUF. My wren 44 gold is still sitting in its box waiting for this one.

RE: My New A7 ARF for Wren 44
Hi Guys,
Well, we test flew the Desert Storm A-7 on Saturday. What an easy flyer! Powered with the Wren 44 Gold, the airplane is a sweatheart! Fast at full throttle, the airplane flies scale and really looks unique in the air. The 44 gold is really a perfect match for the airplane. Plenty of speed and power with that combo. The first flight was kept short (about 4 minutes) with only 1-2 full throttle passes. The second flight was flown mostly at 50-60% throttle with the transmitter passed around (flew for 9 minutes) a bit. The airplane was a joy to fly. Really smooth and responsive on the controls and very stable. We were having some problems with the retracts so did not retract them for the flights and also left the gear doors off as well.
While recording video, I also was taking (or at least trying ) still shots, so have attached some pictures...not the greatest, but unfortunately the best I got. I will be posting some video as soon as I can.

Looks great! Can't wait to see the video!
BTW I spoke with your Dad when I ordered it, what a great guy. It was nice to talk with another Army Aviator.

Hi All,
Thanks Larry and Chris for giving me some stick time. If they've known that I am a jet newbie, then they might have a second thought on that.
Here is my brief amateur flight report.
I flew for 2 to 3 minutes. It was gusty with 15 to 20 mph in the early afternoon, but this A7 is very stable during flight at low and high speed. I was flying it at about 110 to 120 mph with 50% - 60% throttle setting. Did some tight turn at 1/4 throttle to see it's response. I am amazed by only slight loss of altitude and speed without correction. It flies like a prop trainer at low speed, but it can go pretty fast on a straight run at full throttle. The profile is very unique so it's easy to see its orientation when I flew it far and deep. The hight wing configuration makes it easy to tell which side is up or down. Larry told over the control after a few minutes of unforgettable fun. He landed it without flap. It came in and touch down at about 20 to 25mph ground speed with a slight cross wind 25 degrees off to the right at about 15mph. The wren 44 gold is a great engine, I can not believe that we had a total of 9 minutes with only 32 oz of kero, no hopper tank, UAT,etc. That will save me quite a bit of kero bill once I start flying my A7 in the very very near future.
I talked to Larry about when I can get mine. He told me that the first batch of order should be in late June because of strong demand. I am sure this is going to be a high demand on this bird for its easy to fly, scale appearance, unique profile and lower operating and overall cost. This is for sure going to be my weedend jet flyer.
Thank you Larry and Chris again for this opportunity. Now I am anxious to get my A7.
I am late to my work's meeting. Will fill in more comments later.

Hi guys,
The nose looks too high because it is. The springs in the mains were too soft and the spring in the nose was a little too hard. All things that will be updated for the production hardware.
@ Mike, good flight report, glad you liked flying it! Larry will be travelling this month to wrap up the final production so probably mid to late June looks feasible for delivery. I appreciate yours and everyone elses patience on this airplane. We want to make sure that this airplane is done right.
@ Juango, We may do a bigger A-7 at some point. Right now, we have a lot of ongoing projects we are working on including some new ARFs, but it is not out of the question. This kit will come with 6 doors. The additional doors on the mains can be added very easily if someone chose to do so. There is even an attachment on the main struts that the rear support can be attached to.

That is because the doors were taken off making the nose gear look longer.

Hi Chris,
Did you hear if your Mom or Dad got my followup voice message after BITW, confirming that i had sent the email to be put on the ARF A-7 list on Mar. 27. Just wondering. Also, did the BITW guys contact you guys about the trophies you won??, it was a shame you guys left so early, i really wanted to spend more time with you guys and the two prototypes. The day turned out to be great afterall, and was a blast!!!!!
Congrats on the maiden, wish i could have been there to witness it first hand. You guys going to Utah jets this wknd.??

Hi Guys,
I got the video finished up late last night, I'll get it posted tonight. Thanks for your patience!
@ Scott, I don't know about the phone message, but I'm pretty sure we've at least noted the order. Best to forward the email to [email protected] (goes direct and bypasses the email forwarder) just in case. Yep, the plaques have showed up I was very honored considering the nice assortment of EDFs which flew there. Nope, we won't be at Dixie. There's just too much going on at the moment. I'm looking into bringing the A-7 to Buttonwillow (pops will still be overseas), but will have to see based on my work schedule. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it.

Hi Guys,
Video has been posted [link=http://www.jethangar.com/Aircraft/Corsair%20II/Video/JHI%20A-7%20ARF%20First%20Flight_0001.wmv]here (please right click and save as).[/link] We were having some difficulties with the retracts operating correctly (primarily the nose was leaking for whatever reason), so the retracts were not actuated at all during the flights. I did the best I could with the useable footage I was able to get...I'll never make it as a camera man in the movie industry.
Hope you enjoy!
