Krick Folland Gnat
Any one with past experience with this 48in span kit for 46 Ducted fan? I just got hold of an old but complete kit ; thinking about fitting a MW44.

RE: Krick Folland Gnat
Think I saw a photo of a Gnat with about 15 years of DF flights in a recent RCJI. Yes, it would be an interesting subject for the MW44. Any plans available?

Yes and yes, I will post a pic when I get home tomorrow, I don't have any trips to the UK to pick up the kit this month, hopefully get hold of the kit and plans next month. I believe you can still get the canopy from Krick Germany, if there is enough interest I can get some plans reproduced at cost. I would like to hear from anyone who built the original kit to see if it's worth the effort!

RE: Krick Folland Gnat
Hi,
I built it about 15 years ago, all plywood formers and built up wing, fixed u/c, then both the fuz and the wings were sheeted, the dam thing was built like a brick outhouse, no chance on a 45 engine, so i put a OS 90 and a ramtec fan in it, still no chance, but it would probably go well on a 12-14 lb turbine, i covered mine with film, but if you glassed it then there would probably be no need to beef up the airframe

It is an all wood model!?
I know one that has began to make one a few years ago.
I must contact him. That could be a krick gnat.
The factory Krick is about 25km from my home!
regards Martin

The plans show a large cheater hole under the fuz, can be dispenced with when using a turbine, also use of MR pro-skin for wings and tail saving wt. The kit is stil listed by Krick but only the canopy and a few parts are available. I dont have my hands on the kit yet (its in Derby and I'm in Dubai) but see pic att.
Yes, all wood.( could be used a plug for F/G fuz ?)

Leave in the box - I spent a year building one and then struggled with it for years. I suppose it might fly with a turbine and the cheater hole filled up.
Also the die cut parts on mine were not very well cut - it took much work to liberate them.
