Hum, an F4U in the Battle of Britain - that would have been interesting...

Dear rhklenke
Perhaps I should have made it clear it was a Bob Commemorative event
at an actual Battle of Britain Fighter Station. The Format was Warbirds/Jet or any scale model.
In actual fact there is only one Spitfire on the entire DVd and no Hurricanes.
Sorry to have misled you.
Are you aware that six American's took part in the Battle of Britain.

Putfile have taken it off, I think I violated one of their rules.
I am hoping someone else will host it for me.

Regards Phil G.

No, I'm just saying, an F4U would have been interesting - probably would have given the ME 109's and FW 190's a good run for their money...

Dear Bob
I would have thought the Corsair would have given both German fighters a run for their money.
I think I am right in saying the Corsair was the first fighter to achieve 400mph in level flight.
I think I misinterpreted what your first post was implying, sorry about that.

There weren't any FW 190s, either, in the Battle of Britain, they did not enter service until a year after the Battle had ended.

Regards,

David Gladwin.

I don't think a Eurofighter was in THe Battle of Britain either but rumour has it they
started work on it then.

Yea, I figured that, but if you're going to give the Brits the F4U, then Jerry gets the 190... Clearly the F4U outclassed the 109, but it was an older design when the battle was fought anyway, the interesting thing would have been a current design against a current design...
