When you get time before you'r first flight, go by the hardware store and pick up some silver heat tape an put across the top of the elavator boom facing the turbine so that you want burn up you'r boom. Also check with bvm and get some heat paint and put it around the turbine area.

This is news to me wrt Boomer XL.
Is this general advice or have you had specific problems with the Boomer XL ?
(Its good practice esp. for twin boomers to start/cool down the jet with the nose pointed into the wind, to avoid the problem you mentioned and propane/butane build up in the fueslage)

I have a friend that is using a Jet Cat P70 and his boom get's real hot while sitting still at starting up and waiting on the runway, I also have one the Baby and the XL. We are only talking about $3.00 of insurance that can cost you your plane. Also it look's good after put it on.

RE: Boomerang XL
Do you mean put the metal tape on the leading edge of the tail fin coming out of the booms ?
I'd appreciate a photo if you could post one up.
As you said, cheap insurance, as I already have a roll of 2" wide sticky aluminum tape.
Thanks.

Thanks for the kind remarks re left foot, will photograph my Baby Boomerang with my good looking right foot.
ps Baby Boomerang has had 53 flights with a PST 600R and has never burnt the tail boom or elevator to date.

Hi Legnum,
Not wanting to beat a dead horse, BUT
Did you drop a turbine on your toe ?
I see you're from New Zealand. Did you audition for the part of Bilbo Baggins in Lord of the Rings ?
I'd recognize those Hobbit like feet anywhere.

RE: Boomerang XL
Who is the US distributor for the Boomerang?I'd be interested in getting a XL as my "low stress- no worries "jet since my 1st turbine jet is currently my Kingcat!I wouldnt mind getting one of these XL's to try out especially since I have a AMT Pegasus SP that is bored on the workbench in my garage
I of course would probably have to turn down the SP a bit in a XL.What is the approx. cost of the XL ARF?
Thanks in advance,Steve

Nice looking bird!
Interested in what the lighting looks like and how you did this, as am thinking about dipping my toe in the water
Seriously, can we have a picture with the lights?
How is NZ for flying, given the size of the population is there much activity around there?
One thing I have noticed about jet pictures is how many are taken in the house, were we allowed to do this for I/C, I don't think so!!!

Hi gazzer,
Two 6V 10W Halogen bulbs with reflector & front lens, wired in series, connected to speed controller and 11.?V 1700mAh LiIon battery. Current draw is about 1.6 amps.
There are some excellent LED clusters out there, but rather expensive.

RE: Boomerang XL
Spartan.
Why sthe peed controller, is it for off and on, or do you "dim" between?!!!
LED's are more expensive, but should be, easier to mount, less current draw, and longer life potentially, allegedly cooler and also they can still fit smaller lens housings like the ones on my T-33 where only 1 LED can fit, but is surprisingly bright. That said, not sure if it will be viewable whilst airborne yet!!
Does look good though on the Boomer, you have here Spartan!!!
And your still just up the road from me!!!
