J.
That bird is beautiful, and she looks hungry to eatup some sky[>:]. Keep on going man, because with enough power you can make a brick fly.
Keep the pics coming if you can this is the good stuff that keeps me on this site.

A lot of people are almost 99.8% sure that this jet will not fly ( Adil - Escalona - ++++++ ) once turbine convertion is done. I guess I'll be the guinea pig on this one []

Hi Johnny,
VERY Nice. I think it will fly and fly fine. I believe our conversation (at FJ) was more to the fact that Excalona had one and he had troubles. It is a big plane and I'm not sure what engine he had in his but it was VERY short on power and without proper ducting.
Yours seems to have plenty (choice of engine) power so I'm sure you'll do good.
Keep us updated for sure!!
Good luck!
Adil

That looks just like my cjm f-4 with a diferrent nose one it, I have the d model. fuse is 96 too 98 inches and wing is about 61 inches, its huge, Mine has a rihno for power and it was plenty of power, i think it wieghts about 43-45 pounds wet. Paul bagman flew mine one time so far. I have it for sale on here. need money for other stuff, might fly it at california jets. good luck with yours. if i dont sell mine i will do the fresno air guard scheme on mine. here is a pic of mine so you can see the similarities. good luck with the maiden.

Thank you all for the nice comments. Here are some pics of the finished product, I'm still a bit concerned with it as I haven't really gotten any feedback on one of these. I'll do the first flight sometime this week or the following and let you all know if the Jolapy flies or not.

Looks good Johhny. Is this the shceme of the units that were based out of Thailand? I just finished reading a great book, Palace Cobra, about a pilot who flew these jets out of Thailand on SAM Hunter missions. It is a great read, HE tells some harrowing stories of this unit. One impressive story was about a guy who pulled out too late and pancaked into the top of some trees, causing some severe FOD ingestions. He managed to limp back to base with one engine at 80% and the entire rear panels torn away.

Johnny, just what feedback do you need? There are quite a few of your exact same plane flying at our field....throws and cg position have been extensively flight-tested, and weight is no issue on this bird....

Hank,
I would love to have the throws along with the CG, the CG that I have doesn't seem right and I don't want to find out in the first flight whether is right or wrong. You say that weight is no issue with this jet, what is the avg weight that you know of ?
Remember I have a weight limit here in the US and must keep it under 55 Lbs if I want to fly it. Dry weight is 37 Lbs and 49 wet. I would also love to get some flight feedback if you can so I know what to expect. I can tell you that my BVM F-4 is an animal in the air, it loves power and long maneuvers, it locks right on for landings and take off's are a dream.
Tommy, this is the scheme based in Thailand yes.
Thanks for your help and comments.

Tommy,
Johnny's F-4 is the same paint scheme as the ones based in Thailand during Vietnam....it even has the Mig-kill stars on the inlets. The ones that went after the the SAM's were called "Hunter-Killer" teams, usually paired up with an F-105 Wild Weasel or another F-4. Those guys had big ones, if you know what I mean but helped to keep the SAM's off us attack guys and the B-52's.
Good luck with that beast Johnny. It should fly great...just keep the power on.

the planes here are all around 35-40lbs dry. We also have a 55lbs weight limit here in germany, and i am aware of 2 planes approaching that limit. They all seem to fly very well and track true without being all too fast on approaches. So don't worry about your weight, you're in hot. (Performance will be very marginal with a 120 class engine, 160 seems to be optimum for scale performance).
Concerning throws and CG you will have to wait until the weekend. I will meet with one of my comrades who has one on saturday anyways, and i'll get that info from him then.
Best regards
Hank

Thanks a bunch. When I purchased this Jet I knew that it would fly very well, I'm just trying to play on the safe side when it comes to setting it up properly. As far as weight goes, I'm OK, the CG I would like for you to ask your friend just to be sure. Again I really appreciate all your help and I will post pictures of the first flight soon.
David, I've seen your F-4 at Lake Wales ( love it ). I too had my stabs scaled out recently and it looks great, just like yours.
