The prototype has a nice size.......but man... i wish all the manufactures would stop making the same planes over and over again...

There hadnt been done a well executed "SCALE" gripen yet. thus the need for this one. would have preferred to see in 6th scale though. but excellent nonetheless.

Does the fuselage split at all because 282cm is nearly 10ft loooooong!! That would rule out most of the European market, transport wise, unless they have vans etc [

No, one piece-only the nose cone removes.
If by European you mean UK then I still think you arr wrong-All the airworld models need a larger than normal building, storage and transport system. Big is the future...hence things like the Lightning...nice scheme!

I still think you arr wrong-All the airworld models need a larger than normal building, storage and transport system.
Nice scheme indeed - the matching paintwork on the tips really help lift the rest of the scheme.

We don't all have a transit van like Dave, and it is not on my list of upcoming purchases! Just measured the back of the Saab 95 estate which is one of the biggest on the market and the Gripen would just fit with the nosecone projecting between the frontt seats. The canards would have to be removed and I would need to check the length of the fuselage from tailcone to leading edge of wing where it joins the fuselage to see if that would fit. I am 6 feet four so pushing the seat forward is not an option!
Lovely model, just a pity it's so big.

Had the same issue with my AW Hawk but it JUST fits and I DO have to squeeze myself in with the seat right forward - fortunately the trip to the field is only 15mins! Not sure how the paintwork will fair mind you as it really is a squeeze fit [:-]
I reckon the inlet ducts would be too wide to go between the front seats (as with the Hawk) so looks like it is a van only model [:@] Even a regular builder's transit size van would be too small as I believe they only have a loadspace about 8ft 4in long. Shame coz there are a lot of models I'd fancy from several manufacturers!! I think that more effort should be put into the portability of these models - would benefit the manufacturers as more people could transport/store them then so they'd sell more??
AW are popping out some very nice stuff lately!! Wonder what's next!!??

Mark my point was if someone wants such a big model they get a vehicle suitable, where ever they are living.
For a fraction of the cost of this model you can buy a van...

Do they not have trailers over there in the UK? Bigger is better. I bought a 26' trailer for the hobby. Seems to be the only way to go.
But back to the Gripen, I think this might be my new plane. It looks great and has alot of scale detail. I wouldn't expect anything less from AW.

I still cant make my mind up on this jet. On one hand I can see it being an awesome flying plane. On the other I just don't know if I like it enough. I think the color scheme selection (as with most modern jets) doesn't do it any favors so maybe a bit of creativity on a sudo scale scheme ( Which I have been known to do) might brighten it up a little. I saw a Rafale (Very similar jet that doesn't really float my boat) in a splinter type camo and it looked great.
It's about 60/40 in favor of getting one at the moment. I suppose it would be rude not to

With your flying skills and a maneuverable plane like this, I think we will see some pretty impressive high alpha stuff soon [&:]
Throw a P-180/P-200 or an Oly in this one and you will have a 10 foot show stopper.
And, it looks pretty damn good in gray also

I just got confirmed that the Gripen will be delivered with hydraulic landing gear[sm=thumbup.gif].
First release will be the single seat model, with the two seater following later this year. (Only the section in front of the canards needs to be changed for a 1 seat/2 seat switch)

I wish they would stop making all those small planes, because i have a large car! I wish they would stop making T-shirts in size small, because i use XL. I wish they only make shoes in size 9 because that is what i use.

The orange seems to be Hungarian. Magyar stands for Hungary.
The Hungarian site seems to have a load of pictures of Gripen. Not the orange though. Might be the same from other gripen pages.
