RE: Baby Boomerang wing/Fuse Seperation...In flight.
I am just finishing my second XL.
The first one lasted about 30 seconds aftyer takeoff.
Oth downwind leg the hatch came off hit the left rudder and stab, broke the joint at that point.
The stab held on to the right side until about a foot off the ground, then it left the formation.
The landing was hard, but none of the good stuff was damaged.
You know the stuff like the AMT 280 and all the radio equipment.
You can,t get mutch luckier.
The new one has the hatch screwed on.

well as you can remember
there was an very early warning about the hatch BEFORE it came on the market
i have tested the 2 first production xl,s and i lost also the canopy on one of them.
so alan decided to write a small document to put the screw there in the first place.
so if it happened to you , you did not get the message..

Thanks Treadstone for posting.
Its a good reminder that reading and following the manufacturers instructions is really worth while most times. I damaged my Hawk by putting too much flap in on take off RoG but thats another story. I agree with the guys on using thin penetrating epoxy and also using carbon tows dosen't add much weight but you have piece of mind. As far as the BB I bought my balsa BB kit because I had watched Ali fly in Florida with the early ones and he rang it out big time. The spectators were stunned with 'Gee he's flicking it'[X(][X(], tumbles outside/inside everything in the book, completely blew the minds of those used to seeing only flat jets circuits, I just thought wow nice model (saw Ali many years 1990s back at Shuttleworth). Expect a well built BB to do high plus and negative Gees in the right hands. I feel for the purchasor of this one and despair of a builder who was not into removing covering (it might have spoilt the appearance but the model would be flying today) Many ARTFs go in for these reasons but the costs are much higher for turbine powered models.
