Winamac Jets Over The Heartland 2006!
I 'd like to invite all to the 2006 Winamac Jets Over The Heartland Jet meet! This year seems to be shaping up better than ever. With all the flying you can stand! I'll be off all week and you can come as early as you like . Some are coming as early as Saturday the weekend before. Hotel info is as follows.
The Indianhead hotel located in Winamac. 1-574-946-6161. This hotel is located about 1 mile from the field. I have never personally been there but have had it described as clean and good enough to stay there for the purpose of a good nights sleep. Just the ticket if you want to be close to the field and a fancy room doesn't fit your pocketbook or you just want to be close. Should be about $50 or $60 a night.
The Super 8 Motel in Rochester In. $58.00 a night. 1-574-224-8080. No pool but you can swim at the Comfort Inn Next door.
The Comfort Inn in Rochester In. 1-574-223-7300. $76.00 a night. Both hotels are very nice and run by the same people. (pool)
Both of these hotels are about 15-20 minutes from the field. Also the is a Wallmart, Wendy's , KFC , Tacobell and other assorted stores. Both of these hotels are located East of the Mac.
The Astoria Inn in Knox In. 1-574-772-2227. This hotel is located North of the Mac and I haven't heard much about it but is fairly new.
About $75.00 a night. May have a pool.
Friday night will we will have a Chef of unnamed origin cookin WHOLE tenderloins and Salmon with crab meat sauce refreshments will also be supplied. Saturday night will be a club sponsored dinner of barbecued chicken. YOU WON"T BE ABLE TO BEAT THESE MEALS AT ANY JET MEET ANYWHERE! ANYTIME OF THE YEAR! ( It pays to have the best friends in the jet world on your side! ) By the way Tracy And I will be helping with the cooking chores so bring the bandaids and burn ointment.
Its hard to believe its that time of year again and the club is anxious to put on a great show for you and our spectators whom fill the stands every year with applause and cheers for there favorite pilots.
I really need to say this event is put on by the Winamac Aeromodelers and all proceeds go to the improvements that are made to the field each year. No one person is profiting from this event and we apreciate your kind support. We are planning to add a cross runway after the summer so the field can heal up before next years event.
These improvements mean that year after year we can have these events with no problems coming from governing bodies.
Tents are available through me at 1-219-688-3984. These must be paid for in full before Friday the 16th Pricing will be posted Sunday night the 11th.
Parking for motor homes is definately available and if you want a good spot get here early.
There are no hookups available so primitive camping is what you need to plan for.
As we fly from when you can until you can't there will be no time restrictions and if you go home unhappy about not flying enough its your own fault. Bring your foammy models and electric helis for evening flying. But I must say that there will be no pins issued till the jet flying is over. Spectrum radios excluded.
Make your reservations now and be prepared for one of the best meets your go to this summer!
Also the fireworks display sponsored by the Braun Corperation is allways the highlight of the event and is not to be missed! (Saturday night)
I'd also like to dedicate this years event to my father who passed away during the Spiderman jet meet last year. He was the one who initally got me interested in model airplanes and taught me how to build. Tracy came to the field Sunday morning and told me the bad news. Some said why don't you just go home and not to worry about the meet anymore but I said my Dad wouldn't have done that and I wasn't going to either. Those of you who KNOW me know my father and mother were there every year to see the show and say hi to all my friends. He will be in my thoughts all weekend.

Hi Tim!
Looking very much forward to another great week in Indiana!
We're planning to stay over Sunday night at the Bay of Quinte Jet Rally this coming weekend and then head straight to Winamac early Monday morning. That should shave off 3 hours or so from the drive. Should be there Monday evening sometime.
I also took the following Monday and Tuesday off work so that I can stay all day Sunday and leave Monday morning for the 16 hour drive home. Tuesday will be recovery day. :-)

********ATTENTION JET PILOTS******** Winamac has been known for hosting one of the biggest Jet meets during each summer! You dont want to miss this one! We will be flying all week with many other guys and you will see the newest latest jets out there. Make plans to attend this meet and hopefully we will see many of the same guys we saw at the Spiderman too. Tim and Tracy are excited to host this great event as well as the W.A.M. Club. I believe this year will be the best yet! -Patrick

Sorry the initial information did not contain the dates! We always have such a large turn out and I just assumed everyone knows that the meet falls on the same weekend in June 2006,2007,etc... It is like asking,what day is Christmas. I have added a flyer to help those who needed more information. There are 2 maps. I hope this helps the ones who have not had the chance to experience the MAC. Last year we were able to have some join us from Hawaii. They loved it and we hope to see them back!! I think Hawaii in the winter is better. I would have to pick Winamac, if I were to choose this time of year. It is less expensive and you eat like a King for two nights for free!!!

I was on the phone with pilot extrordinare David Shulman a he says he will be here as he has just finished his other love in life custom car building. He has sent me a first look at his newest creation and I thought I would leak a couple pictures here,,,, (Don't Tell)!!!!
