RCU would only allow 25 pics in one post, but considering our lockdowns we did OK

Dave - Would say in the UK people are flying more sport jets or "sports scale" jets than actual scale jets? Something I have noticed over the 2-3 years. Same thing seems to be going on in the US, look at Miami Jets 2021 as an example.

We do have one or two Pilots fly scale jets too.

Jets that are flown the most are sports jets, but just about everyone I can think of has at least one scale jet too-the weather here is less predictable and flying sites are the majority grass, so the scale stuff tends to only come out on the good weekends, or Jet meetings at airfields.
Most of us got into Jets because of the desire to fly a model of our favourite full scale jet, but then if you have a model of your favourite thing, you protect it and would be less likely to risk it in cross/high wind.

There are people still coming into jets and they obviously start with a sports jet, so it takes a season or two before they get comfortable enough to buy their ‘dream’

I think going forward the balance will shift more to sports jets, the scale stuff is more expensive and complicated to manufacture, so we see the shift to larger kits where the costs can be recovered quicker, they are easier to make in the large size and they fly better. Peoples constant wish for ‘lowest price’ possible has driven the manufacturers to this, guys who will buy the larger models are less concerned about how cheap they can get it.

All my projects for 2022 are scale, everything I finished in 2021 was sports, so I guess there is a cycle too!

Dave

No, 2022 is the plan. The last few things learnt from the tests are being implemented, so once the weather improves and permission is in place the intention is to finally get air under the ski.
