Wren did this a few years ago with a 44 gold mated to a Schuebler fan. I believe they used a planetary gearbox.

That's one big low pressure distribution manifold.

With the accuracy of today's 3 axis gyros.......this project may actually be feasible. It's only a matter of money now.

The Likai said the turboshaft engine will be installed in the duct after I optimize the nozzles design. In the meaning time, I putting the engine outside the duct is for convinience and easy to identify the cold air thrust vs hot exhaust gas thrust.
The core engine is K-100TP now and it will be changed to K-210TP. It's very hopfully the fan can generat 35Kgf thrust when the big engine is installed.

last week, Likai has installed a straight nozzle for determine the best nozzle area, the max thrust that I got was 24Kgf! But the 90 degree bent nozzles which Likai tested today really creat much restriction that can only get 18.7Kgf thrust. Likai will try to make some modification and fine tune on the caseing and nozzles for gaining better performance.

How far would you say you are from having the production prototype ready for flight test? & available?

the AV-8 mould under development, i hope the Likai test the turbofan by K210TP , and the thrust can over 35kg , this will make good performance for new AV-8., the release time should be 2017.,if every things goes well!

yes, Likai tested this turbo fan with K210 on begin of this month , now over 40 kg thrust( rotor rpm 17600), we will make the carbon pod for the turbofan and the AV-8 still under development.,

How about ANY F-35? Doesn't need to be VTOL or make a fuse that can be both. Many people say it can't be done but I bet Skymaster can do it.
