Mitch
My guess if it's a recent photo(USA) its on the east coast as most of the left coasts flying sites are golden yellow by now. How do you know its a
Tams f/a 18 ? Where did you get the photo?

Hi Mitch, It is My plane and Yes it's a Tam's F-18... The Pictures were taken a Top Gun this year it was the end of my Second Round on approach to land when I got behind the power curve in about a 20-25kt crosswind. The plane was about 10-12 feet from the ground when it was blown over.

When the plane hit, it was on the right wing first flipping the nose on the ground! The damage looks much worse in the picture I promise. The only damage was to the nose of the plane which I have removed and replaced. The plane received no other damage to either internal component's or anything aft of the fuse split!

The Tam's F-18 is one awesome flying airplane that I can first hand tell you is one tuff Son of a B@^#H!

Hope this answers all questions! Thanks Mike

Mike I'm very sorry to see this. A friend sent me this picture when I told him that I was interested in one of those Tam diamond back super hornets. I just lost another hot spot and I'm contemplating a Tam 18.

Patrick,

just because I don't perform the type of ass kissing that you do, does not mean that I enjoy anyones tragedy such as this. I inquired about this matter for the simple reason that I'm about a week away from ordering a Tam F-18.

Strawboss, I will do as you requested thank you.

Ok, the personal attacks have been deleted here, lets keep the attacks out of this or the thread will be closed! There has been nothing negative said about the pilot and the pilot himself has come in and given information on what happened in the flight, no need for swearing, attacks or otherwise!
Thank you

Not questioning all the facts that were stated here but do these photos look altered/photoshopped somehow? Just wondering if they look weird to anyone else.

Almost looks like the plane was placed into the picture and the background around the plane was reworked. Again, I'm not questioning that the plane actually went in that way at TG but the pics just look almost surreal. Maybe the pictures were taken with a very high megapixel DSLR and when shrunk down to this size, it gives that effect?

Looks like a normal pic... not that you could easily tell if it wasn't.

I can see what you mean, around the image there is a bit of image loss (probably from jpg conversion) which does give the impression of the plane standing out.

Doubt very much its fake though becuase of the jet trail following the plane which would be practically impossible to replicate.

Always sad to see a jet go down, but pleased to see this one will get back in the air.

It's quite simple to explain. The plane stands out because it's the part of the subject that is in FOCUS.

I see that a lot with the pics form the newest digital cameras ... some of John Christensen's pics of Billy's A-10 that were posted here a while ago looked fake to me, but they definitely aren't ... Uncle Joe tried to explain this phenomena to me a couple of weeks ago, but with all that technical camera talk, none of it really sunk in.

Thanks Everyone for the Kind remarks. The Hornet has been repaired and is now ready for action. Hey Patrick Thanks and Ill be your wingman anytime Sorry I can't make it to Winimac Im gonna be in IL, at the U.S.R.A races this week with Joe and the Polecat. Hope everyone has a great time.

As for the Picture it was taken by a professional photographer hired by Frank Tiano. It was taken with a high resolution camera and downsized for FTE's website. BUT I can assure you that's EXACTLY how it looked I was watching it..........

Over and Out. Thanks Mike

I know what you are saying Gordon. I've had a few pics with my DSLR that looked that way. Maybe because these are of a very light plane against a dark green background, the effect is even more exaggerated.

But the guy on the grassy knoll is definitely there except he didn't have a gun. It was a stinger and that's what took out the Hornet.
