New England Jet Rally, Aug 19/20
First Annual New England Jet Rally folks(!)....will be held at Gardner Municipal Airport, Gardner MA, on Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th.
The one Dist I has been waiting for! Finally, Jeff Lynds has been able to team up with the Wachusetts Barnstomers, our host Club, to bring it off. Gardner is the site of Bottom Gun and the New England Masters Scale Qualifier, both in June, and a superb RC site...particularly so for the jets, as it is wide open. Features a 3000' x 70' paved runway with no restrictions on flying. $30 pilot registration, no limit on number of models.
8 AM to 4 PM both days, AMA and Waiver a MUST. Motorhomes/trailers OK, but no hook-ups on site; $5 donation accepted. Food both days.
Contact Bob D'Angelo, CD, at 978-895-0079, [email protected], or Jeff Lynds, at 860-228-1972, [email protected]
Off Route 2, in Massachusetts, take exit 22 and follow RC signs to the airport.
More info re hotels/accomodations/restaurants/directions, to come.....

Derrek, you more than welcome to use our 110v we run our generator in our trailer most of the day for charging. Just ask anyone where are the trouble makers from F -Troop and Im sure they will point you in the right direction. Last year we had some electric jet combat in Maine, lets just say that Ray Davis could have used a helmet and a flak jacket.

Hey Guys ,
Good news! I succeeded in getting the time off for our first New England Jets at Gardner.
I will be arriving on Friday morning to assist with any set-up action. Not sure if Karen and the kids will join in, but if they do, there is no doubt that I will be bringing our golf clubs for a little link action as well after flying hours.
Man-O-man, what a relief to get the time off for jet action with my friends.
See you guys on Friday the 18th.
Frank.

Well, I would like to say this was an excellent event. From my perspective as a spectator it was a great event. I hope it is done again next year when my F-18 and A-7 are ready. Here are some picks. Unfortunatly I was zoomed in all the way so the pics are not as sharp as I had hoped.

Just got home from the meet myself. Great flying, great time and plenty of planes. Anybody got a count. I was a spectator today. I plan on going to the meet in Maine next month as a pilot. I just picked up a DF Starfire...man sure would love a Turbine in the future ! Out of my budget right now !!!

Around 30 or so pilots sounds about right. Great event, at a super great location. The pilot turn out was great ( especially considering this was a first time event ! ) and the spectator attendance was more numerous than many jet rallies that have been around for years ! congratulations and thank to all who organized and participated for putting the New England Jet Rally on our calendars for what hopefully becomes years to come [8D]. The Wachusetts Barnstomers club, Jeff Lynds, Ray Davis and many many others did a super job at facilitating everyone. Great fob !
Saturday’s flying was non stop and the weather was absolutely perfect ! … Sunday poured in the morning unfortunately, however by noon the sun was out for some more fuel burning [8D]
See you all next year ( and probably in Maine for the most of you in 3 weeks )

Wojtek, this ones for you! Eddie captured you during one of your many intense moments. I second what Wojtek said about the event. Well, done Jeff and Ray! Also thanks to the Jet Pit Chicks for there help and a special thanks to Bubbles for giving us the finer points of summer sock etiquette.

Couple more!
The Wachusett Barnstromers did a great job hosting the event.
Karen cooks great Cheeseburgers!
I'm looking forward to next year for sure
Hope to see all of you in Maine in Sept.
