Here's what I’ve done for the elevator. It's a fairly simple way to go. You'll notice the servo lead is coming out the bottom of the elevator but will be inside the boom and run down to the wing then into the fuse. The servo sticks’ out the bottom of the elevator about 1/4 inch but will be covered with a plastic faring and painted white just like the real Bobcat when larger servos were installed in the elevator. These fairings are available from DreamWorks. The Servo is a GWS MICRO 2 BB METAL GEAR SERVO it's rated at 75oz in Torque.
I'm continually impressed with the construction of this acft.

great pictures booker.

Question for the guys thinking of using a pusher prop set-up. Does anyone make a pusher prop with a high pitch, and I'm guessing that your probally limited to a 10in diameter prop. I'm looking on the tower website and I'm only seeing the highest pitch prop being a 10x8 pusher, seems like if I guy wanted to run somthing bigger than a .46 or .50 then you would need a higher pitched prop.

I have looked on every prop maker's web pages and we are stuck with the 10-8 as the highest pusher pitch prop for the 60s or the 90s and that is what really stopped me from getting an airplane, hard to find a suitable prop for the 60, 90 size engines

tower sells props all the way up to a 22x18 zinger, apc has a 14x6, and if clearance is the factor you can all-ways go with a tri blade pusher.

Hey the Bobcat 50 is available in the UK, the Chinese manufacturer pointed me to the UK supplier.

It's an absolute bargain at £185 + £10 shipping a total of $351 (at an exchange rate of $1.8 to the UK pound ) [:'(]

http://s147682260.websitehome.co.uk/default.htm

Nitroplanes wont ship internationally and Raidentech quoted me shipping then cancelled my order and said "unable to ship oversize item to international" []

Now trying to find a shop in HK that will ship to me!

We must have got a pretty good deal on them here then. The box is not really very large, so don't think it would be oversize. I have a yellow and blue one and just need to figure out which will be the easiest to see. It will get a turbine, and the other a glow engine. Bob

Tower carries the apc 10x8 pusher and zinger 11x8 pusher that you can use for 60 and 90 size motors accordingly.

Galen

My plan was to use a Hitec HS-125MG or HS-5125MG thin wing servo both metal gears but the 5125 is digital and 49 oz/in a@ 6.0V. http://www.hobbyhorse.com/hitec_hs5125mg.shtml

But having two HS-225BB instock providing 65 oz/in I elected to use what I had on hand. Also I would not have to drill through the tail boom to feed the servo leed. servo pockets were about 1/16" short on length.

Radio is a Futaba 9CA, I will mix elevator to an Aux channel to handle reversing and centering and end point issues. No I did not split the elevator like the BVM's jets.

Rudders very thick I plan to counterbore pockets and used a post type horn.

ONE MINOR PROBLEM: The right wing was not assembled correctly. The layers of wood were not placed right. The servo pocket was tight and the hole for the landing gear is off center. Well I trimmed the wing skin to get the gear in place the bent the gear (axel) back to give it 1-2 degress of toe in. The left wing gear needs to be tweaked on the toe in.

Still build quality is better than expected.

well early'er in this thread i showed photos of the beginnings of retract installation photos, now they are all in and set the rest is cosmetic, my nose gear retract's far enough that i might be able to put doors on it to help with the wind Resistance on the front end, and the main gear ill leave alone i think they will cause very little drag once retracted, now on to finish the rest of the plane.
OH by the way im only gona power this with a ys-45 and tuned pipe, granted the pipe up the side of the fus wont look so pritty but ill get the juce.

topper retracts look slick. Guys give me a total list of servos (size wise) needed for this plane. It looks like

1 or 2? super slim servos for the elevator
2 mini's for the rudder
2 standard? for ailerons
1 ? for throttle
1 ? steering

??

Here's the beginning of my retract installation. It will retract straight back into the wing like the real thing. I'll put strut covers on it as well. The aileron servo cover has the servo mounted on the back side. I just enlarged the origional servo pocket and mounted it in.
The strut is forward of where they have it but still well behind the CG. I'll move the nose gear forward as well.

Lookin good Topper5!!!

This is fun!!!

Guys

How did you beef up the wing to support the retracts? Do you have any pictures of the wing without the retract unit in place? I wasn't going to put retracts in mine right away but I may change my mind. A jet just doesn't look right with wheels hanging down.

In reply to H.DALE and JUSTINH
I used 605 spring-air retracts with robart straight struts, after cutting out all the ribs, and the stock strut support, i cut a basic bridge support, then epoxy-ed them in-between two ribs, then epoxy-ed in two hard wood runners to each side of the bridge support, to support the retract,
this is just after the skin was peeled off.

I ordered a 34oz tank from Jet Tech

http://www.angelfire.com/wi/jettech/page2.html 11 pictures down

It will require some bulk head adjustments but I'll mount it as far back in the fuse as possible. It should end up close to the CG.
