hope this isn't a repost but just received the

Latest Fod Screen from Tamjets and it gets 2 thumbs up. no longer have to worry about frayed ends around starter motor coming loose. nice hard rings capture the entire unit and starter motor ring.

No Mark.
Most of my early version FOD screen is made from kitchen strainer.
Since we had so much difficult time to find the correct strainer to use. Sometime is out stock.
So I decided to sub-contract the factory to made the FOD screen for turbine engine use only. It is much more expensive than kitchen strainer. But it worthed.
Monday I be in the office take few photos show you what it look like.

I saw one of these close up-they are WONDERFUL. I couldnt believe the amount of engineering Tam put into such a basic device. Both the inner and outer flange are a two piece bolt on dedicated captured flange design. Designed from the ground up to be a first rate FOD screen. I'll get a couple. Scott

Tam,
Nice looking unit! How do you get the fuel and gas lines to the Festos? Nice neat factory holes would have been nice?

BTW... by far the nicest yet... Get the fuel and gas holes in and it will be perfect!

Dave,
The hole can be easy done by user. I even have instruction manual show how to do this simple task.
For Jetcat engine. It come with Festo fittings.
Here is the photo I just took.

Tam,
Simple enough. Will any little metal pieces break off from the holes and make their way into the turbine? Any chance of them chaffing the tubing?

Nice product...just could be "World Class" with a bit more effort!

If you say so. Just don't want any problems with FOD from the FOD screen. Like I said...Nice product, by far the best yet.

Dave,

I think the holes are made by expanding one of the holes in the weave large enough for the line to go through. Maybe stick a toothpick through and wobble it around in a circle, the wires are not cut and no loose ends to become FOD.

Dave,
You want to know the secret.
I had 1000 of each size FOD screen make. Factory won't talk to me for small quanlity order.
Even 1000 pieces for each size order still cost more per unit than the kitchen strainer off the self from supermarket.
But in order to have perfect design without piece of metal coming loose and correct size holes. Things has to be done right.
No way I can sell all 2000 pieces of FOD screen withing the next 5 years. Maybe 3-4 hundreds pieces in the two or three years period.
So the price I selling this is very cheap for the money I put out.

I had one local friend and he never own or run any kind of business before in his life.
He told me if I sell for $10 a piece. A lot of peoples will buy. I had told him. There is not enough turbine out there to buy all my FOD screen.
He look at me and said. Why are you making this item and you know you can't make money from it.
I look at him and reply. Is all parts of doing business my friend.
Some items make money and some don't.
Just like this FOD screen. Even I don't make money. But the customers are using it will appreciated and in return will give us more business.

Only few peoples know and understand what is cost to have this made.
I though my are expensive enough. After learn what it cost Jetcat to made.
I don't few so bad after all.
At least Jetcat and Tamjets doing something right for the user.
I got to admit. Jetcat do made better one.
Anyways, I got enough FOD screen for every single engine you can sell for life.
