Christmas in August

RE: Christmas in August
Tommy
I have asked PST to send us the scale kits ASAP and will have an answer for you by the end of the week.

As far as I know, this size Panther ( at 23 - 27 lbs dry ) has been flown on the Artes Falcon, JetCat P70, P80, P120, RAM 500, 750, PST 600, 600R, 1300R, Wren 54.
Personally, I have had the opportunity to fly the Panther at both sea level ( 15 C ) and at 2200ft msl ( 20 C ). With a 12 - 14 lb turbine the Panther requires 60 - 70% power to maintain a comfortable 130mph cruise which allows for some climbing turns etc. Application to full power in level flight prior to loop entry is required for a proper loop ( as compared to an egg shaped, lower velocity type ). The Panther flys in a very "SCALE " like fashion with these power plants at both sea level and at elevation.
If you are looking for a little more vertical or prefer to maintain a 50% power setting in cruise then a 17 - 20 lb turbine would be ideal. Interestingly, the plane does not appear to gain significantly more airspeed compared to 14 lbs of thrust - where it is noticeable is in the vertical pull. Keep in mind that the kit comes with a 2 litre fuel tank. It would be wise to add another 40oz ahead of the main when using a larger engine. Although my demo model weighs 23.5lbs dry, the plane can easily gain an extra 2 - 2.5 lbs with no flight penalty.
We are starting a Panther kit that has a customer supplied P70 and I get to do the test flight! I think that will be a great combination!
Cheers

RE: Christmas in August
I set mine at the same CG as the PST, 3.75 inches back on the wing where it meets the fuselage. Worked out well. Balance with full UAT, empty tanks and the gear down. You will be fine.

RE: Christmas in August
At the moment I have it tucked beside the stock fuel tank under one of the rubberbands that hold it in. The front of the UAT is resting on the former that the band is hooked on.
I'll try to resend the brake file, I received from PST.
