RE: F86
I read your link. I do agree that their is room for another F86 however what it should be is Alomst Ready to Fly version, but better looking than the Kyosho and would take a 0S 0.91 or Wren Turbine 44W/55W. I just got into Jets even though expriciened flyer. It was a real pain to find one unless you pay a massive amount from BVM. I got hold of a Trim aircraft as this is cost effective and flys nice but need paintwork hence much more cost.
I also think a "ARTF" F9F Panther /Cougar is another good model in which to start, buggar all in this area expect if yo go electric or do a wood build up. I mean who the hell has has this time and skill nowadays to do this ****??? I don't nor do I wan't too.
You see if the JET kits go ARTF and a reasonable price, then production quantities of Turbines and DF would go up and then lower the price of Turbines which around $2000 (£1400) - Turbines should be around £600 - $1100- but looking at some time away probably 2 or 4 years.

RE: Love Sabres
I'm looking for a big Sabre that'll accept a ducted fan. BVM's is obscenely expensive. Trim Air's F86 may be ideal, but, I haven't been able to reach them and Aeroloft & Great Northern Models no longer list Trim Aircraft on their websites (an ominous sign?). Jet Hangar's, while good looking, is too small. So, how about it Yellow? Does that answer your question?

RE: Love Sabres
I have a BVM F-86 and I say Yes on the F-86! if it is an F-86D then it would be intercangeble with the F-86H, bigger fuse than the earlyer ones. I am amazed that the model jet world has completly forgotten about the strait wing F-84!!!!!! it was the F-86's mud moving partner throughout the whole Korean War. it was the P-51's P-47 of WWII. many Nato countries used it. the F-84F Thundersreak was not famous in history. but here on RCU that is the one everyone thinks of. mike Kulczyks DF F-84 was GREAT!!

RE: Love Sabres
I agree Corey, the F-84G thunderjet deserves some airtime. I hope PST gets theirs out, but I think it is a 120N -160N sized plane. I want an F-84G for a 60-80N engine so we can do some formation and 'MUD Moving'!!! hahah!
A sexy beast with and without the tanks.
F86 is way up on my list as well as F100D but you are right, what the heck happened to the F84 G (straight wing)??!!!

RE: Love Sabres
Tam is coming out with one.........An ARF painted, pre drilled for hinges, cut out for the servos/gear/gear doors, flaps and ailerons....
and IMHO it will be VERY affordable.....It will be P120 sized.......78"
It will fly soon!!
If everyone promises not to tell Tam, I'll post some pics!!

RE: Love Sabres
I agree,
A sabre, whit the size for a turbine about 20Lbs (9Kg, 88N) of thrust would be perfect.
The BVM sabre (for ducted fan) is to small. And the new sabre of that company is to big.
Just look, how many people have a turbine, which they bought a couple of years back. That were the turbines which were producing that 20Lbs of thrust. And todays producers are only going bigger and bigger whit there models. Those new models are way to big for those 20Lbs turbines.
And what to think about the home-builders. There a not very much of those home-builders. But the guys i know, are all making turbines which are producing about 20 - 25 Lbs.
Also whit the new wren supersport, there is a new catogory of turbine, which would be ideal for a sabre that size.
I would say, there a many sabre's on the market. But how many are really designed for turbine use? Not that many. Most are for ducted fan, and therefor meaby to small for a turbine use. Others have designed it for turbine, but then for a big turbine (30 - 35 Lbs).
That's my opinion.
greetings Paul

I got on Trim Aircraft's web site for you. Their F-86 is 63.5" long with a 62.8" wingspan. Don't know if that is large enough for you or not. I ran into the same problem when I got a Byron fan and a Rossi 105 fan motor, so I made my own out of balsa wood. 72" wingspan with a 72" fuse. Total projected weight is 17 pounds. Should fly real well. If you want some photos of it, I cand make some for you and send them to you.

ORIGINAL: Q8SABRE
Why not an f86D version?
Why not an f86D version?
Because the D is one ugly dog....
To be quite honest, i see no market for F-86s. Skymaster is doing one, BVM has 2 sizes, Gleichauf, Liebetrau, JHH pretty much fill up the sizes inbetween...i don't agree that the sabre is the "Piper Cub of jets", it is seen too rarely at airfields (i see a lot more F-15s flooding around....), however i don't see why another one should become "a winner".
I think more exotic stuff is what we need. A larger SR-71, F-111, maybe a large Intruder (there was one being put together in 1:6 i belive...a "garage project")....a B1 or B2 would be a nice bird also. There's so much out there which is hardly ever seen...
Best regards
Hank

awe yes, specio won ton suop fo yuuu....
Actually, I really like the jet. It seems to go together quite well. I think one of the hardest parts will be the hinging of the airbrakes....Which is the step I'm at right now. I plan to put a P120 in it and I'm excited to get it airborne!!

RE: Love Sabres
This is Tam's prototype(I think he got it from the above mentioned folks, but I don't know, nor do I care!! I just like the f-86!!). We have a "deal" going on. I wanted this F-86 so bad when I saw it in Tam's shop but he would not sell it to me as he said that it was not tested yet. He did not think he could get to it before the end of the year as superman was coming up and he wanted to get other airplanes up and running.
In the voice of Marlon Brando "I made him an offer he couldn't refuse"
I gave him some cash(not an obscene amount, I promise!) and I got the plane. The deal is, I build the plane and he gets to test fly it (I think it'll be Dave Presta...) we make some changes and I keep the F-86. I get to get an ARF F-86 way sooner and I get to help in getting all those SABRE lovers one way sooner as well!!
See, we all win!!
So in reality, I was really just doing it all for you!!!
Hmmm, well not really, I just wanted one!! Muahaahaahaaha!!![sm=bananahead.gif]
BTW I think Tam will be selling these at really reasonable cost. I think they'll be well under $3K "go fly"

Shaun
Please no more F86's, F16's etc. How about doing something that no-one else is doing?? The market nowadays is filled with manufacturer's selling the same aircraft (albeit in different price brackets).
If only someone would resurrect the Tornado
Regards
Scott
