How many mAh of reciever battery per jet flight?
Hi all,
I thought id start a thread to see how many mAh of reciever batterys capacity is drained on a jet flight. ( For purely selfish reasons to see if mines normal!)
Ive go a boomerang with
6 JR digital servos (2 8411, 2 8231s and 2 3421s- 11kg, 5.5kg and 4.7kg)
2 jetronic pneumatic valves.
1 Hitec 645MG on the noseleg.
On a ten minute run/flight im putting 300mah back into a 4 cell 1950nimh pack.
My 120 size electric pattern ship with 5 jr 811s only takes 150mah on a 15-20 minute flight.
Does 300mah for 10 minutes seem normal, thats 1.8A average draw for the duration of the flight- only the flap servo the 8411 is audible, but not really any worse than the others.

RE: How many mAh of reciever battery per jet flight?
Hi,
On my black bandit, about 300Mah for a 7 minutes flight, pack is a 6V 2400Mah Nicad. On my Airworld hawk with 2X2400Mah Nicads, after a 7 minute flight is about 350Mah each.
Geoff.

Use a meter such as an astroflight whattmeter or Hangar 9 sells one now to check current draw on servos. With digital servos, you can't just go by the "whine" to determine exactly what's being drawn. You'd be suprised what a difference a few clicks of backing off of an endpoint could drop current draw. Of course current draw will go up at flying speed but it's good to start off at the minimum while the plane is static.

With my FACET, with 6 digitals and two standard servo's, using a JR 2400 Mah pack, for a 10 minute flight I'm using roughly 125 ma/flight. After seven flights, the limit on the ECU battery, the RX battery takes between 850-900 ma to get fully charged.
My experience seems pretty low compared to what others are getting, but it is what it is.

On my my big stuff ( KingCat / Euro / Panther ) about 300 mah per flight ( 7 minutes ) is common. On my Reaction using Hitec analog about 175 mah per flight ( 9 minutes ). Digitals really seem to suck battery juice. Thats been my experience.

I haven't measured the Mah consumed, but now I have a new charger that will give me that info.. I know I can get 6 flights on an 1800 mah battery before it dips below 5 volts. I have a mix of servos.

Remember.. If you charge a battery, wait a while then charge it again, some chargers will put in over
100 mah even if its fully charged...
What your doing is a good idea and very use full... Its just not very accurate !!!

Hi seems normal to me all of my jets have used about 300mah per flight including the Boomerang.
I did get paranoid about current draw at one point and made a lead to check current draw especially digitals on flaps, however I just spent Hrs chasing my tail. For peace of mind why not install 4000 Mah Duralite.
Alternatively just go fly and ENJOY !!

Agreed - it would be better to discharge the pack after a couple of flights and see what capacity came out!!
