Hi guys I have a 1/6 th scale F-16 and after receiving my gears back form skymaster for some minor repairs and maintenance my wheels are locking up, which in never did that before, I am using a xicoy single brake valve. What can I do to fix this? would greasing up the brakes help?

First of all, if you took the brakes apart, make certain that you put everything back in the correct sequence. Then grease the brakes as dry brakes will always lock up on hard braking,
I have several flat spots on my tires from too hard braking, sometimes there has even been smoke which looks kinda cool but is very tough on the tires!

Tor, I am "working on" getting a 1/5 scale this time. Who knows, may end up going with the 1/6 just for the fact that they looks so good still...such a faithful airframe.

I know you have carried the SM 1/6th F-16 banner for several years now. Love how you keep it pure and simple.

Stay in touch!

Getting ready to maiden soon, 2-3 weeks dependant on weather. JB220, 3 tanks, Elevons with fixed wing surfaces, 3e PB Gyro, fly's on 3 servos. Full bypass with D4S lights.

Some last stuff........

1) C of G @ 225 mm. with just fuel in the header tank.
2) Main gear tires inflated to 40 PSI or 100-103 mm diameter.
3) Brakes greased with tri-flow silicone grease on pads.
4) 40% expo on elevons.
5) 110 PSI in the main gear struts.
6) Approach for landing should be flat & flare once in ground effect.
7) Aircraft ground attitude should be flat......QN this will be with how much fuel onboard?
8) Not more than 50% throttle except for take-off & vertical.
9) 6 mins on timer for maiden, gradually increasing to 9 or 10 mins.

Anything I've forgotten please?

Cheers.

Tiger - you have really done your homework! I land after about 8 minutes, the main fueltank is then about 4/5 full. You have 40% expo on both the elevator and aileron functions?
(which is what I use). Also, I have 40% expo on the rudder and the front wheel has 35% expo and a separate twist button to adjust during taxi trials.
I'm crossing my fingers, this will fly great!!
Cheers!

Hi all!
I'm trying to fix up a secondhand G2 (with one flight on it) and have read through all the posts here. I can see that some guys are doing the "Tor" mod on the rudder with success? Does anyone fly this thing without this mod and crash?

does anyone have a up to date manual as it seems to be a very old one on SMs website?

Mine came with three tanks. The big centre one was mounted in front of the hatch and slightly forward of the two saddle tanks. Anyone else doing this?

Great at thread and great flying guys!

Cheers
Karl

Karl - I would not recommend flying without the mod, I have seen 3 broken rudders and 2 almost crashes with the original setup, better to be
safe than sorry! The large center tank is about 2 cm forward of the 2 saddle tanks. Which turbine will you be using?
Good luck, and just ask if you need any more advice!
Cheers, Tor
