I quickly pulled the tanks out of the jet and soaked up the fuel inside the jet. I put the tanks on my driveway and got a video for you guys.

In the video the tank is already half full. As you can see as soon as fuel starts transferring to the other tank it starts leaking. It starts leaking through very small little holes. About 5-9 little holes. Enjoy the video.

dude that **** is simple to fix; first clean tank with alcohol, let it dry then mix up some hysol, spread the hysol over the area, make a nice 1/32" layer of it. Let it dry. Once dry the leak will be gone.

This crap happens on conformal fiber/kevlar tanks, but good thing is that they are easy to repair.

I finally made the maiden this summer!
I was a short and scary flight! I tried a few mm flaps during takeoff. The bird lifted off perfect! A few trim click on ailron. Gear up. And one round with 1/2 power on my P180RX. It felt like as on rails.
I decided to increase throttle to 3/4, and lined up for a lowpass. 50-70m away from me I saw and heard the rudder flutter! It was like an horse kick in my stomach! :-(
I throttled down, elevator input to bleed off speed. Gear out and landed!
I have now done as you recommend Tor: Pull-push with the servo installed in the fin!
I have not found time to fly it since!
Shockingly, SM continue to use their patent on their 1/5 F-16!
Also, in all their film clip they fly like hell with the same patent!
What are we doing wrong?
I read an article in latest MAN about flutter on rudder. And how to prevent it to occur!
I can only conclude, the rudder are wrongly designed! Or...?

I can not wait to get it airborne again!

Shockingly, SM continue to use their patent on their 1/5 F-16!

Could you please explain your meaning of this statement. No one have seen the 1/5 f16 fin / rudder setup yet.

I would suggest you check installation again. Also check the plastic hinges. Did you make support for hinges - or is it glued with no support. The complete pin hinge must be glued into wood - only hinge should be gap between rudder post and fin trailing edge.

The 1/5 f16 uses wire hinges like f14 , avanti....

Best regards

This is probably where I should say "I hate to say I told you so..." - but I don't hate it!! I have told everybody so again and again,
and still people try the SM solution! No matter how tight it feels, the momentum on the rudder under power is just too tough and
the short distance between the rudder axis and the ball on the servo doesn't have a chance holding it during that kind of stress!

Dubd - I believe he has made the changes AFTER the flutter, as he writes that he has NOW done as I recommended and hasn't
had time to fly it after this... and Morne - from an earlier picture it seems like the new hinges are glued in OK.

Anyway, man - don't be afraid to fly it now that you have done this the correct way, it will take any speed and any maneuvering
without a problem when you have done things right! BTW - what is your real name?

Well I am doing what tor said but it still confused me why this flutter happens. Even the scalejets f -16 has the same rudder setup. And it works great.

I may have jumped to conclusion, but the 1/5 scale are "out" on YouTube! Showing mounting of wings and fins!

And yes I swapt the pin-hinges with real good quality robart pin-hinges. Even add two more! In total 5 on my rudder!
And yes, I had to build up alot with plywood(real plywood, not bananabox wood! Made a soilid suport with plywood and hysol all the way in full lenght of rudder and fin!

The flutter was brutalt! The whole aft airplane was twisting!

Be sure to check the entire plane for any structural damage if you actually saw the plane twisting, make sure the servos and formers
as well as your turbine mount has not been affected

I have Tor! All looking good!
Actually I reinforced the engine mount from the beginning! Did not trust the bananabox wood supplied! They were also cracked out off the box!:-(

I chose to have all function operated from the back hatch. The crossbar swapped with carbon. The "box" made of plywood with carbon look film.
Pneumatic, fuel, I/O and main switch (Fromeco) to be operated from one position!
Batteries from under the nosecone
.

A solid carbon reinforcement together with proper plywood to make a sturdy engine mount. Overkill? Yes, I know! But it did not add many gram. Nor am I loosing my house using these few more bucks!

Added a tilted plywood tab for better support of the pipe mount. Also adding a layer of leotard to make the plywood surface more sturdy!

UAT, ECU, Pump and filter mounted on a plywood sheet in starboard side of engine. Made a smart patent, need only to loosen one screw to lift out the "Control board".

Guys, this thread is THE most useful thread for the 1/6 Skymaster F-16, it's also been running now for more than 8, that's EIGHT years.
thanks for all your inputs.

My current project, A G2 Tigermeet with JB220 is on the bench now, slotted for a maiden in February 2015, I'll post photos for anyone that's interested.

Cheers.

It's been a while since I have posted here I've pulled out the Kingtech 170 out of the F -16 and put the new Jets Munt 200xbl what a difference the Jets Munt 200xbl is small than the Kingtech K-170F. And what a power house of a turbine the F -16 is a monster of a jet now and plus liking tthe fuel economy to go with it after flying for 6mins at half throttle I still have a main tank full so I should be able to fly 8mins.
