Hi Chris,

I know the differences - I worked at the factory, here in the UK, where the Hawk is made and where the T45 wing is made.

It's not just paint and fuz differences though - the nose gear is very different to the Hawk.

As I said in my previous post, it wouldn't take much work to make it 'standard'.

Personally I think the T45 and Mk1a's have been done to death - the T100 would float my boat much more.

Jeff, thanks for your info. I received a nice e-mail from Yang about this hawk topic. Here it is!

Hi Joe,

What you see now is T-45, which is for American Navy. So there is only one color scheme for it, which you have seen. Bae you mentioned is a red arrow version. There IS difference between red arrow and T-45. Now we've almost finished the preparation. will supply red arrow version later.

Red arrow has the same outline size as T-45, there are difference in details only, which are: T-45 is for navy, so the nose wheel are double wheels; while its single wheel for red arrow as there is tail hook. T-45's speed brakes are at sides while red arrow's are at bottom.

Our T-45 has speed brakes at two sides. But bottom speed brake is eliminated in red arrow version which will be released. Please note the price: T-45 ARF is USD880, and landing gear is USD580/set; red arrow ARF is USD930, and landing gear is USD560/set. You may ask why its more expensive. Its because the color scheme is more complicated to make than that for T-45. Another reason is drop tanks especially for red arrow is added. Landing gear is cheaper as it has single wheel.

Any further questions please feel free to let me know.

Hello,
I am very excited about your hawk. It looks very very good., What
will be the color schemes? Are they to be any red hawks in BAe RAF
colors? Does the speed break function?
Are you willing to sell me some of the retract parts for this plane?

Kind regards,

Joe Kelley

Hey Joe

There are some subtle differences between the T45 and standard BAe Hawk - such as the nose gear, arrestor hook, airbrakes etc.

It wouldn't really lend itself to different colour schemes without some modifications. Howver I'll ask JL if they would consider making a 'standard' Hawk. There wouldn't really be that much work involved.

I think the new wing gives a much more proportioned look to the model now. We have two finished and ready for flight but Christmas is in the way!

Merry Christmas...

Thanks for the answer Jeff. JetLegend sounds like they have a good airplane. But I do feel they don't realize how different the wing is on the T-45, or they could have easily squared off the wing tips, and squared off the horizontal stabs. Then when they do the Red Arrow include different parts.

I am planning to get one soon, I hope, but I want a T1A.

Thanks,
Chris

There was an earthquake in the region. The internet is disrupted throughout Asia as a result.
The Fei Bao site is also erratic.
Reports say it could be up to two weeks before things are back to normal.

Hi Chris,

I completely agree - it would be so easy to change the moulds to improve/enhance the scale appearance of each version.

I guess we'll see soon!

Happy New Year...

I'd really like to see a Hawk 115. I'm not 100% sure but I think if you gave us a nose package for the red arrow version, we'd have the 115.

I just did a bank transfer for one of the kits today. For those of you who ordered direct from Jet Legend, how long did your transfer take? Just curious as this is the first overseas transfer that I've done.

Any bank wire transfer usually takes no longer than 24 hours. Cheers ...

A bank transfer to China usually takes 4 or 5 working days to arrive in the recipients account.
Jet Legend usually ship by DHL a week after receipt of the money.
Yang has been on holiday & is back to work today, so things may take a few days to normalise.

Thanks. I was just wondering because my bank told me that the recipient's bank was a "slow to pay" bank.

Hi jwsp69,

Only a couple of more flights so far. Both the plane and the Super Bee are performing very well, both in terms of power and reliability.

I’ve recently been distracted playing with a 2.4GHz radio in another plane. Must get back to the T-45 and fit the gear doors.

I understand that new kits have a reduced weight fuselage as well as upgraded wings?

Eric

Just bought one from RCU recently. Waiting for it to be delivered.

All fitted out with engine but not flown yet.

Hi.
Just finished my F-18 Chippy Ho and now have my new T-45 on the bench. As you know I built and flew (for 5 minutes anyway) the original version of this kit. This kit is the newest version. Yes the fuse is much lighter. In fact it is redesigned. The vertical fin is now removable. All the moldings (even the intake liner) seem thinner and lighter. I can't believe how much lighter the entire plane is compared to the first version. I was planning to install gear doors (just finished this tedious task on my Skymaster F-18) and have purchased the UP2 valve, air cylinders and hinges but now am reconsidering. I will be using a P-70 and flying off of grass frequently. The pound or two of weight I saved with the new lighter kit will be negated with the gear door installation. I may just screw the fuse doors in the closed position and then use my Dremel tool to cut a neat clearance for the nose gear. This will eliminate that huge hole under the nose. Since this will be my any day, every field jet, I may just keep it light and simple. By the way, note the high gloss finish. A few hours with some polishing compound produces a brilliant finish.

Great to see you are getting to another one Dom. I am still slowly working on my orignial kit. I have the nose gear doors mounted but still have the mains to go. I ran into a problem that the doors that attach to the struts on the mains hit the wheel as the oleo compresses if they are in the correct position when the gear closes to seal with the wing. Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, how do you correct? I am stumped.

Hi to all:

After the success achieveed in the first celebration of the “Air Festival Cax-77 of Great Modelos and Jets”, and after long months of work and preparation, the Club Xátiva Aeromodelling announces the celebration of the “Great Air Festival Cax-77 2007 of Great Modelos and Jets” that will take place days 22 and 23 of September.

Like in the last edition we want to offer to the aeromodelers and all assistants in general an event of high level in which it is possible to participate without great requirements, hoping to even count this year with European pilots and of North America.
Like the previous edition, the C.A.X. - 77 will establish prizes in metalic that serve as compensation the expenses that this
type of events causes.

Please join us with this Air Festival and surely we will have a great weekend.

As far as I know there is no commercial cockpit for this size Hawk. SM do one for their bigger Hawk, I had one made as the SM one was not available then.

Hi John,
Where did you get the cockpit from and what was the cost please?

Has anyone managed to get the full complement of gear doors/airbrakes working and sequencing correctly yet........some pics would be nice for ideas to kick around!

Working on my gear doors right now. Have run into the problem that the doors on the main struts are hit by the main tires when the oeleo compresses. [:@] Have not mounted the main inner doors yet. Nose doors are all done and fairly straightforward. I have decided against operational speedbrakes because I just want to get it done and into the air!

Can I add my name to your list of customers for your cockpit? It looks really good and loks as though it would fit the PJP as well.

Best wishes

The cockpit was made for me by Mick Morrison, he did a lovely job on it, he is a Hawk engineer and has unlimited access to the full size. If you want one be prepared to wait!

Best regards

John
