Default RT Hammer turbine : Anyone ?

Hello,

I have come across a turbine called the "RT Hammer" available in 80N and 130 N thrust classes. Has anyone ever heard of them ? How do they perform compared to other well know brands ? Service time interval, etc... Are the CC and fuel sticks made of inconel ?

They have a web site, and their products are now distributed by several well known jet makers.

http://www.rt-hammer.eu/

Their price is very attractive !!

Thanks.

The time between servicing is 50 hours and the guarantee is 2 years.
The CC is stainless steel

The price really is attractive. Does anybody have any background information on this turbine. Is anyone using one of these turbines?

The RT Hammer series of engines is distributed and serviced in North America by Altecare RC.
At the moment, you are able to purchase these engines directly from us.
In the future, once the dealer network is finalized, you can purchase from a list of local dealers.
Only two engines are offered at the moment, the RT80 and RT130.
Specifications and pricing can be found at:

www.altecarerc.com

Warranty is 2 years.

In order to get the word out on these engines, I'd be willing to accept(for free of course) the 130N version to test out in my next project. I would of course report my results in an honest fashion in this forum. Altecare, please PM me so I can give you my shipping address. Thanks.

I'm with you Avicom. I think I'll wait to hear of performance reports. It would seem that someone would have some video or review of the engine. Maybe a rep ?

Default RE: RT Hammer turbine : Anyone ?

Thank you for your enquiry about the RT Hammer engines
I have put together some answers to questions that many people have asked and hopefully, this will address your questions:

1- Who made this engine? The engine is manufactured in Germany by Rackete Turbine.

2- Where do I get service? The first service after a 2 year period is done
in Germany as requested by the manufacturer, at no charge to you. We will be
making an announcement soon about the service centre in North America, and
most likely by the time you need service, service will be done here.

3- What support do I have? We have been selling and supporting turbines for
a few years now and we carry spare parts on hand as well as replacement
ECUs, valves, starter motors etc. You can contact any of the people on the
Sponsored pilot list/customers to get feedback.

4- This price of $US 2,495 for the RT130 and $US 2,195 for the RT80 are North American prices. These are not intro prices like in Europe.

5- Is warranty the same as most engines on the market? Warranty is 2 Years.

6- How reliable is this engine? Turbine engines have come a very long way
from 5 years ago. Buying a turbine these days is just like buying a regular
gasoline model engine from a well known reputable supplier. These are German engineered,
designed, manufactured and backed-up by a German warranty. Strategic
components such as turbine wheels and shafts go through X-Ray inspection for
flaws etc. All components are from German suppliers.

7- With what brand it can be compared? You can compare it to any reputable 19lbs ~ 30lbs thrust turbines.
The 66mm turbine design and technology is offered by all the
manufacturers out there except WREN who offer 44, 54, and 71mm. The 66mm is
extremely reliable especially if it is supported by a solid ECU like the
Projet which is very easy to use and program.

8- How much will cost ship this engine? Typical ground shipping is approximately $US30.

The manual is now available for download at:

www.altecare.com/rthammermanual.pdf

The ECU manual is also available at:

www.altecare.com/projethorneteng.pdf

Hope this helps,
Regards

Interesting!

The European introductory offer price for these turbines is just over £1100 for the 80 and £1300 for the 130. That is £600 less than a P120.

I'm confused. #2 states 2 year free service from Germany.
#5 states 1 year warranty.

Help me understand.

Any fuel burn figures at WOT?

The factory requires an inspection after 2 years, this is not a 2 year warranty.
I do not have the consumption figures, I am sure the factory does, as soon as they are available to me, they will be posted, but they will be pretty close to a typical 19lbs and 30lbs engine for the RT80 and RT130 respectively.

1 year warranty with no limit on hours?

Then at the end of 2 years I must send it to Germany to inspect free of charge? Who pays the shipping charges? Who pays for parts they want to change?

It says the first service after 2 years.....

Where do you find those prices? From Altecare, it's $2195 for the 80, pretty much the same as Jetcat....

ET

The price in Europe from the Jet Hammer website is 1525 Euros, at the current Sterling / Euro exchange rate that is £1,050 (including all taxes) for the 80 and the 130 is 1900 Euros which is £1,292 in Sterling. The export prices are 1315 Euros and 1637 Euros respectively I am not sure what the Euro / Dollar exchange rate is but I think it is around $1.30 to the Euro this would give $ prices of around $1,710 for the 80 and $2,130 for the 130 if you imported them yourself from the manufacturer excluding any US import taxes. I hope this answers your query.

A Jetcat P80 is currently around £1,350 in the UK and a P120 is £1,900. Savings on the Hammers are £300 and £600 respectively.

It would appear that the turbines are better value in Europe than in the US if you are going by the Altecare prices. This may, of course , reflect their profit margin.

IMHO these are seriously cheap turbines and are certainly worthy of consideration. It will be interesting to see who bites first!

Best regards

John

Dave to answer your question. I just recive an email from Matthias from Germany and like Eicas said, the warranty is two years. About the first service, Matthias explain me in his email that it will be included in the price for those engines buy until the end of this year. About any parts that have to be replace, The customer is responsible to pay for the shipping and parts if any, unless the parts damage were bad cause a mistake in the production. In that case the manufacturer will pay for the charges. This is the only info I got. Hope it helps.

Hey i´m an austrian dealer of RT Hammer. We use the RT80 in an Boomerang XL and the RT130 in an Kithira by U.R Modellbau.

We build a Kersosin Start in the RT130. The ProJet ECU must be programmed new but then the Turbine works very well.
Look at my Photos www.powerjets.at.tf

The ProJet ECU must be programmed new
Is the engine delivered with sufficent documentation for the end user to be able to program the ECU correctly ?
