Thanks guys, I think Im going with the PPG Base Coat paint and then give the model to a friend of mine to shoot the clear (he's got all the right tools for that!)

I've deffinetely learned something today.

Do yourself and whoever is shooting the clear a BIG favor...once the base is dried completely wrap that plane up in some plastic. Base is just like sanded primer...it will absorb contaminates. NO PIZZA!!! NO LAY'S!!! And wash your hands BEFORE you wrap it up...not tryin' to be an ass...I speak from experience.

If you hang out up at JT's we've probably met in some way or another. I do a little painting here and there.

You work at Lockheed??

HI all, OK, here"s a question that I have never seen posted and that is wet sanding these lead paints with your hands in the bucket of water.I would say that , that crap on the bottom of the bucket contains lead. I guess I should be useing nitrate gloves, what do you guys think.

I never use a bucket...or a hose. I like using clean water at all times, so I have always used a spray bottle. Once the bottle is sealed there is no chance of any particals contaminating my water, the sandpaper or the surface I'm sanding.

As far as the lead goes...your not inhaling it, or ingesting it...so you should be ok.
