RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
Bob,
Hitec 5997 is very good. It put out 180oz at 6v.
Hitec 5955 is excellent. It put out 330oz at 6v.
The gear this Hitec servo is amazing. Very tight and smooth.
The price are the same as 8611.

Yes, I am using the 330 ounce Hitec servos on the elevators only because they center so well and have no slop. I have 8611A's in my P70 version but I am not very happy with the servo gear slop. Well, half way done on the P120 since Thursday...here are some pics.

Hi F16 flyer,
Nice FOD guard...is this one of Tam's? I couldn't see this one on his website last time I looked but I wouldn't mind getting one.
Thanks,
Craig.

Chris, great pictures as usual........you too Tam.
It was a great day for flying today 65deg, wind down the runway at (im guessing) 5-7, crystal clear sky's......ect. Thanks for letting me fly test fly the new bird Tam, she fly's as good as she looks.
Russ, that picture looking straight at the back of the tailcone is wicked! Thanks for letting me fly your big 3D plane today, I would not have known how bad I sucked at Aerobatics if it werent for you. [&o]

RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
Well, it's done. Since my last weigh in on my P70 F-16 at 18 3/4 lbs. I added a weatronic dual rx bringing my total dry weight to 19 lbs 6 oz. The P120 F-16 with all the same components without smoke came in at 19 lbs. 3 oz. with 96 ouces of fuel capacity. We are going to fly it today.

Wow , That sounds great , 3 ounces less than the other one, Trading the smoke for more fuel, We all look fowards to your flight reports. I got My Tam F-16 (all white kit) Friday, I ordered it through Todd at Dreamworks(Thanks,Todd). I can't believe the quality and amount of pre - fabrication ,This has got to be the best deal going, you get beautiful scale looking model. In 5 minutes I had the wings ,and tailgroup plugged in, and a great looking jet sitting on the bench , Everything needed is there for you, and fits perfectly,The canopy is done and glued, formers installed, you just need to mount your gear and engine, and do your plumbing .I can't believe how impressed I was when I openned the box, The details , panel lines, and especially the Tailcone are awesome. I have no afilliation with Tam Jets, and I am fairly new to Turbines, This is my third jet, I am just finishing a Comp ARF Flash, and I am really looking fowards building my new F-16. Thanks, Jack.

RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
Oh my goodness!!!! Today was more than a success...this jet exceeded our expectations to say the least. It takes off in no time and instantly flies vertical for as long as you want. The turbine puts out so little thrust at idle the jet won't even crawl when stopped. The flight performance was a mirror of my P70 version only with tons of power. Good thing I listened to Tam and put the speed limit on this jet. Flying only 1/4 throttle I would line up with the runway without a dive, nail the throttle and in less than 1000 feet you could here the speed limiter bring the throttle back to maintain a maximum 180 mph. The best part about this setup is the fuel efficiency, 7 min flight and the main tank (30oz)was still 100% full. Thanks to Tam and Dave for their help and making sure I didn't literally fly the wings of this jet with the speed limiter. The P120 well...why anyone would use anything but a jetcat is beyond me. Both my P70 and P120 have worked flawlessly from the beginning. They start perfectly, run great, are so easy to use and cost the same as the rest out there. I still flew my P70 F-16 today and loved every second, smoke just makes my day!!!

Russ, Your F-16 looks great, I like your installation. I am building Mine right now, What a great Jet kit! Do you use any air restrictors on the landing gear to slow them down? Also ,what batteries ( 4 cell , 5 cell NiCad ,or LiIon,/ 1 or two packs??) are you using to power the reciever on the P-70 version you built. Any Thing I should change or beef up (using a P-70) Thanks for you input, Jack.

RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
I'm currently flying a Cermark F-16 with a Simjet 1200 (roughly 12 lbs of thrust) and this thing is a bullet. I could not imagaine a P-120 in it, Holy $%^!
I will say this, this model is more fun than I could ever imagine. Sooooo manouverable, soooo stable while inverted, and more signifcantly, sooo damn easy to land.
The high alpha comes natural. Last Sunday I tried slowing down as much as possible for landing, but the thing just kept wanting to fly.
Tam, Im getting one of yours as soon as I'm done with the Cermark. Will you have a gray version with no decals applied?
Thanks,
David

RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
Thanks Jack,
It was as much fun doing the project as flying it. Yes I used the restrictors from Tam and they work perfect. I'm also using three Thunder Power 2-cell 2100 packs. One for the Turbine and smoke pump and the other two for the Weatronic receiver. The only modification to be made on all F-16 jets is to reinforce the top of the rear landing gear mounts. I just added another 1/4 inch thick layer of hardwood on the top. A hard landing will crack the stock mount right in the middle.

RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
More P120 info...
Because the P120 version is almost as efficient as my P70, I decided to put smoke in this jet. I switched one of the 12 ounce tanks back to smoke oil and sacraficed the weight of the pilot for the smoke pump. WOW!!! Because it climbs straight up around 80 mph the smoke density is so thick. I still flew a six minute flight with more than 20 ouces of kero left.

You need to epoxy those strips in and I also suggest using either hardwood triangle stock in the corners or use four of the plastic L brackets to hold the strip down...yes even if you epoxy the strips.

RE: Tamjet F16 with P120
If you don't use smoke, you can install the two 12oz tanks that we use for smoke and fill them with kerosene. You just take the vent lines from the saddle tanks and run them each to a 12 oz tank. This will give you 96 oz and a flying time of over 10 minutes. For me I would much rather give up flight time for some smoke action. When I got started, I asked this same question until I started flying and found that a 5-7 minute flight is good enough for me...I'm ready to land by the time my 6 minute timer goes off.

That's the idea around this sport Tam F-16, as a second jet, very easy to build, a lot of prefab done for you and an anormous amout of suport to make sure you have a happy successful experience with it.
Just ask Russ, first jet for him, well, second now with the one with the P-120. [8D]
