Here is one picture..
I havea few others I will get loaded soon.
YOu can see the bigger cylinder on the main door.
The inboard aft cylinder is shimmed off the bulked by about a3/8" block (it came bolted to the bulkhead and was too much of an angle)
Sorry the picture is not perfect the airline blocks the wood block!

Wagner,
Thanks for the parts! Construction continues with the hope of some Hornet flying at Missouri Valley and Winamac.
Those newer larger diameter strut mains and nose are nice improvements! The elevator bearings are great too.
Have to install the pipe but the new one is clearly wider between centers and lines up well with the tailcones.
Thanks for coming through with everything!
Dave

Hi
The older version of skymaster is the same lenght, so if you are refering to gear doors, sure you can do that. Also the pipe with bigger incenters distance can be installed.
dave, can you let me know the distance of the new pipe?
Regards
Nuno

Thanks for the feedback.
I did not get the idea for gear door mod, can you please advise?
What about the elevator ball bearing system? can it be retrofitted? Wonder if Wagner can be of any help over here!!
Thanks. Regards

Guys,
Just wanted to publicly thanks Wagner. He send me a new hatch, hinges and paint to restore my F-18F after my fire. All free of charge. Even when I made clear the problem was my install, not the plane.[sm=thumbup.gif]
What more can you ask for?

Tried flying mine last week. Rolled out for take-off, but the plane would not rotate, so after about 600 feet I aborted. I was using the mid flap configuration and low elevator rate. Think that may be the culprit? CG is at 5" and the plane is powered by a Titan SE.

Make sure to use the elevator rates recommended by Fei Bao (Elevator metric = 40 to 45 mm, US = 1 1/2" to 1 7/8")
I balanced at the recommend CG of 140mm (5.5 inches) from point #1 in the attached drawing
600 feet should be enough. You may want to hold some elevator from the get go. Also you can lock the brakes and wait for full power before released.
Good luck

What is location #2 for. I have flown mine but it was real sensitive on elevator. When trying to land. I had the same flight as the guy from austraila I believe that's were he was from. The one that was flying in grass

I'm add abut -8% expo (futaba) to my elevator, as i noticed i accidentally moved the elevators when ding ailerons. I have not flow much mine, but so far a have brought the plane relatively flat, with air brakes and full flaps quite slow. Just small flare up before touchdown. So not a lot of elevator needed that way. Later I may try the higher alpha approach.

RE: Fei Bao 1/8 Scale F-18F Super Hornet
Hi
I have strted with 25% expo on elevators and after my first flight notested that is way too low. The elevator is very sensitive because of it's design that falls back from the exhaust, thus giving too much authority. I am now using 45% with very nice handling. More than 30 flights
Also I ma using 40% on ailerons with 15mm throw. After some inverted flights, also found that a bit of down elevator has to imput to allow a straight level flight, so I am planning to move the CG rearward

RE: Fei Bao 1/8 Scale F-18F Super Hornet
Hi Guys
I have just received my FB F-18f, All very excited but worried, my last jet FB L-39 did not like to fly, Infact she flew full speed nose first into the tarmac, I later relized that my wing loading and CG was very wrong, Ready to fly she was 13.7 kg( 30lb). not sure what i was thinking. Any way the piont is I am now over cautious of wing loading. how is the F 18 ? does she tip stall or does she fly like the f-16?
Regards
Anthony

ALmost done with my F18F, but I am wondering if anyone has had any flutter or problems with the verticl stab/Fin with just the bolts holding the fin on?
Mine seems pretty stable but I was thinking about gluing them on as well.....
Thanks
Dave

Hi Guys
This might have been asked and ansered before but what did you guys do with the nose wheel as far as angle of attack goes , my f-18 came with retracts installed (wish i had not) they are badly fitted, I have to remove them and fill the holes and redrill. Any way back to the question, the nose leg is to short and i have to lenthen it or lower the retract. What did you guys do ?
regards

I'm using Robart 635 with the Skymaster struts. I though about adding some ply support to increase the angle of attack. Checkout the Skymaster F-18 thread. I did not do it, but will consider it in the future, as i still jumps in the air when taking off.

RE: Fei Bao 1/8 Scale F-18F Super Hornet
Anthony,
I also had trouble with the retracts and am not using them and replaced them with Tamjets.com retracts with direct sterring on the nosewheel.
This helps drop the nose wheel unit a little lower (actually had to gring a little more for the nose wheel to retract passed the fwd lip of the gear opening). But then I also had a nose down attitude. Wish they would just drop that former down a bit...
I then machined about another 1/8 off the strut (end that goes into retract) and also turned down the spacer that goes on the top of the strut so I could lower the mains a bit...if that doesn't work I might have to go to a smaller diameter wheel or add a little more shim under the nose retract mount.
Make sure you check the incidence with a little puch down on the nose, the plane will tend to push nose down a little with throttle. Fortunately the spings seem pretty strong on the nose strut, better than my other F18!
It has been a lot of work getting this plane rebuilt. Some of the parts were not as expected(my opinion -retracts, gear door hinges etc.) While it took a little while to get things,, Wagner has done a very good job about supporting this plane for me and it will be a nice jet. Thanks Wagner.
