Got a kit off the f15 last year been putting it together over xmas very pleased with it. I see brandom is putting a jetcat 140 in .I was thinking off using my jetcat 100 or jetmunt 100 .would a 100 be ok on power

I have about 70 flights on mine now, I added a details4scale functional droptank on mine for added flight time. I weighed mine at our jet rally in sept on a set of xicoy scales. Full of fuel and ready for takeoff it weighed almost 35lbs. I put a jetcat 120 (around 27lbs thrust) in mine when I put it together, it flies well but I cruise around 3/4 throttle, takeoffs do take some runway, and I do a smooth climbout and make my turn before I pull my flaps and gear up. When on step the plane flies great, but like I said about 3/4 throttle cruising, and vertical is definately limited. I am going to be adding ordnance to mine and just aint digging the 120, I am currently swapping in a KT170 in mine to give it the smash I am wanting for shorter takeoffs and strong vertical. I contacted Shaun, he informed me the pipe can handle the 170, and he has had 2 with a 170. This is my honest experience with alot of flights on this particular bird. If you are going to run a small turbine, you MUST keep it light. Fyi I run only the bottom half of the bypass, and two ears of bypass on the top, at the rear of the turbine to protect the tanksmine is setup with stock tanks,a hansen hiflo UAT, 2 fromeco 2600 flight packs, powerbox smart dual regulator switch, 3 air tanks, (brakes/doors---gear--air brake) I do not have a pilot or opening canopy in mine. Swapped to sullivan skylite tires on the mains, and a 2 1/4 bvm nose wheel (I wore my stock foam tires out).

i agree with the big power! My 140 put out 34lbs of thrust on the stand and mine is 35lbs fully fueled as well. Mine cruises at 1/2 throttle no problem and plenty of vert. Mine is one of the Arfs and I actually flew in on EDF with a Shubi for a few years! The jet can definitely fly with low power. It not nearly as fun! I believe Shuan had his 170 detuned closer to the 140 power..

The first pic was from the jet rally in September, the second picture is from this month right after I made and installed the new rails, 
makin sure it fit as planned.
Express,, those futabas are only 146 oz. I had mine on Jr 8411s (188oz.) on the elevators, it flew fine but I never really trusted them and was always easy on the stick. While swapping to the 170, I also swapped my rear elevator servos to MKS 777s, the truth is its a heavy plane, I wouldnt trust anything under 300oz. Thats my personal preference, as always opinions vary...

While I understand the impulse to use as much servo back there as you can, I do want to remind you of a couple of facts for your consideration. First, the plane was originally flown with 8411's back there for years with no issues. I did the same on seven of these planes over the years. Second, the part of the stab in front over the pivot helps move the part behind. Those stabs are well designed and engineered, and they'd probably work fine with considerably less power back there. We flew jets on much weaker servos back when 8411's were considered monsters. My first Avonds F-15 had Futaba S148's on the stabs. Of course it was lighter and slower, but today nobody would dream of going with less than 3 or 4 times that much servo back there. When a 500 ounce servo in a standard sized case comes along, that will soon be considered the marginal, minimum requirement

A company called Just the Pits was making them and might still be around.
I just got back from the Coachella Jet Jam and had about 10 flights on my 15. I had not flown it in awhile and forgot how awesome this jet is! The 140 is perfect for the model, high speed passes looked awesome and after about a minute of flight to burn some fuel the vertical felt unlimited. I really need to fly the model more, it is sooooo fun!

Hello, making progress here... there is a lot of stuff to fit into this fuselage! Well I guess my struts are backwards too... Im not sure how to trim down the cockpit correctly? I have the stock cockpit still in the bag ifanyone is looking for one. If anyone has suggestions on placement of my components I could probably use ideas haha. This is my first official turbine jet build. Thanks!

Just put my 3rd flight today with the new 170,,,what a beast..timer is up to 6.5 minute flights with good reserve fuel left.
And yes, Josephs looks awesome,, at the GSW jet rally last year we got two flight in together, looked great,,ill try to find the pix.
