Wow I never would have thought about that... I'll probably just inject behind the turbine output and let the bifurcated pipe do the splitting for simplicity. 2 streams would look cooler I think...hopefully that method won't be too messy.

Pros and cons to each. Some say the thermal shock of the cooler smoke oil tends to weaken the pipe (don't know if that's true or not) and certainly any accidently pooled smoke oil in the pipe will lead to a fire in the pipe causing problems.

I've done it from the back of the turbine as you suggested and had some oil in the pipe so that's why I am going to try out the back of the pipe this time. I'll let you know how I like it once I get it done.

cool well if there are multiple risks, maybe it would be tbetter to go out the back. I wonder if I could cut a hole in the pipe and run the smoke output an inch or so from the aft edge of the pipes so its not sticking out the back?

I personally would never cut or drill a pipe, you would just be asking for a pipe failure IMO.

Here is a pic (terrible pic because it's a cel phone photo of a picture in a magazine) of a jet utilizing the smoke injector pipe out the back of the model.

I made a heat shielded box for the ecu battery and Installed the best wing connectors I know of from http://www.ultimate-jets.net/collect...ctric-hardware ---Thinking I may run the smoke tubes out the back but not between the layers of the bifurcated pipe as that would require a ton of customization of the smoke tubes and welding etc. due to the curves and long length of the bifurcated pipe. Almost ready to maiden!.... but it like 20 degrees outside...

Does any have a yellow f15 manual available to download?
I acquired a second hand flown hard model last year and I'm just getting around to checking it over prior to flying it. A manual with recommended control throws would be helpful.

There is no manual for the ARF version........My throws are
Ail-3/4"
Elev-1 1/2"
Rud- 1" (all measured at the trailing edge-widest point of surface)
Flps- 2" 6% down elevator with full flaps

CG- 7 1/2" behind the leading edge of the wing at the root (gear down, tanks empty, UAT full)

I got the figures from the manual for the kit..........my numbers are very close to that manual.

Thanks sideshow,

I have a good plastic model kit store that can match up the paint for small touch-ups

Hi Guys,

( Bushong- thanks for your help on control throws)

Is everyone running the stabs as purely elevators, or as elevons?

If as elevons, what control deflections are you using?
