WERNER KRANZ ME-262
Hi,
I am in the process of buying a Werner Kranz ME-262 from a friend.
Has anybody tackled this subject using the WERNER KRANZ kit. I am sure that our German friends are familiar with this name. I need to have some details such as turbine used, CG position, best retract system for the plane etc.
I would appreciate any help you may provide.
Thanks
Reuben

Thanks for the reply!
For the moment I have put the 262 aside until I finish my Airworld L-39. Hope to get back to it soon.
Thanks again

RE: WERNER KRANZ ME-262
Hi, I am Ilja Grum, producing the new Me 262 kits.
If anyone needs information on the old Kranz kit, feel free to contact me. Although the redesign of the old kit is totally different in many aspects, I can give you all the needed information to get your "old" Kranz kit in the air.
Cheers,
Ilja
PS: first batch of kits ready NOW

1. Scale retracts for the old Kranz kits are not the problem, but it would require to use the new gear mounting system that was neccessary to alow the scale retracting angles.
2. P- 60`s are ideal
3. 2350,- Euros excl. German VAT, First five MK1 kits at special offer price 1900,-

Hi Ilja,
Unfortunately now is too early for me for two reasons:
1. As stated above I am still making the Airworld L-39
2. A jet guy (who lurks here in this jet forum)has, up to now, defaulted on his promise to send me a paid up turbine.[>:]
However, I will definetely be contacting you at a later stage.
Thanks for the information.

Here are some news on the single engine version ( note picture with comparison to full size tail ).
A P 120 should be ideal due to the weight savings in the empty nacelles.
Photos show just a prototype to find out thrust line and cuts. Looks all very scale to the full size one.

Yes, the full size has flaps inboard the nacelles and the model also, but beside the extreme prefabrication of the whole kit there is still something little to do for the modeller. The kit clearly shows the panel line detail for the needed cuts. Adding these flaps will be described in the manuals of course ! Following the instructions this is an hours job for both flaps.

RE: WERNER KRANZ ME-262
Here is another picture clarifying the concept of all the flying surfaces. All ribs and also main spars are located at the scale position,i.e. under each rivet row is a rib or a spar. This is not only extremely strong and light, but gives a very scale overall appearance when viewing over the surface. The glass fibre shows through this structure.
Moving surfaces such as ailerons have integral hinge tubes glued inside and just need to be slotted at their leading edge to accept the forward hinge part wich is simply glued to one of the ribs in the wing.
