Hello Neal,

The 1st production Dragon will arrive this week. I will do the manual and do some testing before it will be released. I will keep you posted with pictures.

SJN

All flying surfaces will be balsa. But i do not know about the finishing. Will soon know.

As for the Bandit, Anton made sure it does not look like Bandit. If you want a Bandit, speak to BVM.

Hi Morne,

How's it going? I got mine today and I have to say I'm impressed. The glass and woodwork is spectacular. The flying surfaces are all wood and glassed to perfection with all the hinge holes and cutouts nice and crisp. I like the fowler flap set up with included fowler style hinges.

I'm impressed and can't wait to get started. I will post some pictures when I get some time. I opted for the white version as i'd like to have "Chip" do another one of his mastepiece paint jobs.

Thanks - Adil

I just want a general idea of the workings of the kit. Inside of fuse, landing gear mounts, gear pics, just all the stuff you would look at before you purchase a kit. Thanks in advance for taking the pics. How much was the kit?

Thanks, Neal

Default RE: X-treme Jets Dragon?

Last for now.

Here are my impressions on this pre-production kit:

Glasswork is really nice and clrisp with minimal seams. Fuse is a little on the heavy side but I have been told that the production versions are lighter.
Formers are perfectly cut and glued. Glasswork on the flying surfaces is perfection! I wish I could glass like that []. If you look closely, ever spot where the horn needs to be glued has ply inserts top and bottom. There is CF rods glued the entire length of the wings to give it strength and rigidity. None of the flying surfaces are flexible but are light. Every stress area has the ply doubled (seems more than 1/4")

IF I think of any more, I'll chime in later. Overall, it is a tremendous value for under 1,000 USD. The plane looks really slick when assembled and for a LARGE airframe, it is light.

Hope this helps.

Adil

Adil, your wings looked glassed to me, is this an option not a manuf recommendation? Glassed vs Iron on? I'm confused.

Hi Sean,

Yes. There are 3 options for now.

ARC - USD895 white fuselage and glassed wings
ARF - USD995 painted fuselaged and glassed wings with oracover
Gold dragon not decided yet!
