Hi GSIFLIGHT, congrats about your L-39. This jet fly's really well I am sure you will enjoy it very much.
I do not use Futaba Servos only Futaba Radios, I also have the 14mz and I love it, you can do anything you want with this radio. There is a list of recommended servos on the instructions manual of the L-39 you would have to find de equivalent to Futaba, or you could use JR servos, they are great...
For mounting the servos use the recomended way on the manuals, make sure to use hysol or similar to glue the wood parts to the wing.
We used the Falcon (23lbs of thrust) on this jet and it had plenty of power. After a many flights the customer had the chance to upgrade to an Eagle (30lbs) and he did. The L-39 is very overpower with the Eagle and also fly's great. Unlimited verticals with the Eagle.
The jet had a flameout due to an airleak on the UAT and had a rough landing but a new one is on the working bench.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Feel free to contact me at my email directly if you want.

Michel

Thanks for the response. I will send you some construction photos as I go and any questions that come up.
Currently I am in Palm Coast, Florida for training, work related. I will be back home on the 15th of the month ready to start assembly.

Thanks,

Ian,

Keep me posted on your project. I have been talking to a new model friend I met here in Palm Coast, FL. He is from Tampa, FL and is a jet guy who flies at Top Gun. He has some good information for me. I can pass it on to you if you like.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Steve,

Hope to have my L-39 here soon. Still trying to figure out shipping a crate or building one etc.... I can bring mine over to you for close inspection. Will post pics on internals when I receive. Eric Clapp did an amazing job on this one! While you're in Florida, pick it up for me will ya? I will buy your $2 coke on the plane.

Ian Comp... I too am flying a Boomer XL. My Eagle is putting out 31.5lbs and I plan to switch it into the L-39. I have started to try and practice with my Boomer more scale flight characteristics in preparation for the L-39!

Andy,

What is up buddy? I flew in on American, so I can not help out. I wish I could have though, would like to have your's and Kevin's as a go by. I have made contact with some L-39 jet builders here on RCU. As you have read, we plan to share ideas via photos. Do you know if Kevin received his other L-39?

Ian,

Your L-39 is looking good. I plan on printing the photos when I get home this weekend to have them for reference. Keep me posted.

Hey Guy's,

Good to hear from you both.

Say I heard Tulsa jet guys like to fly around and lose their tails. Is their any truth to that?
I am always trying to establish new RC'ers. Can't never have to many.
I did meet up with a couple of Fed RC'ers here in Palm Coast. One is a jet builder and pilot who fly's at Top Gun.
What a great person and does not mind sharing his knowledge.

Steve
