Well the Falcon was test flown by Wingart today. She performed very well with her Wren 44 gold, not lacking in any power at all. She had an excellent climb rate, she flew straight and true.
Landing was a bit of an issue as the front nose leg wasn't locking in, so a bit of modification and attention. I had one really successful flight, filled her up and went up again and had a mainly successful flight and then all of a sudden she dipped rolled climbed, she was all over the place. I got her back and then she went out of control again, got her back just over some trees, then she went out of control again and started spinning in towards the trees, I managed to get her back again, got her level and she twitched a bit then she started coming in, I gave the stick to 3DFlip and he landed her for me. Sorry about that John but my nerves couldn't take anymore! Thanx for that John. It was the receiver out of my Hawk so there could be an issue with that? I'm going to put a 2.4gig set in the baby now, before she flys again.
And thank you very very much Steve for doing the maiden. And thank you all for your hospitality.video clip:

Bigtop - Congrats on the maiden !!
The video link is dead.

THESCALEMAN, we are machinign 2 mounts that will bolt directly on the 4 bolts that clamp the P70 mount together, these are well within the fuselage width ! other bolts in the jetcat mount are way beyond the fuse's width.

Joe, My original fuel configuration was a 24oz dubro where the orginal kit tank was to go and the UAT on top of it. Then a 24oz dubro in series in front of that. This weekend I removed the forward 24oz tank and replaced it with a 40oz dubro (about 68oz with UAT) mounted on its side. Not much difference at all in flight and the 40 fits without cutting anything. 8min flights with plenty to spare on my RAM500 Total weight with fuel 19lbs. 300 foot of roll on grass for takeoff and even with no wind a very slow landing speed (full flaps).

I've been thinking about getting one of these for my Artes Bee. One reservation is that it looks like it might be a pain to break down for transportation and set up at the field each time.

Looks like you have to slide on the wings, bolt them to the fuse, then bolt on the booms. Exactly how does it assemble? Can it be transported easily if you just remove the booms? A few pictures might help.

Thanks,
Joe

hi joe,

might have the same problem..getting it in the car...i have an estate but haven't checked it complete yet...you are correct in saying the wings bolt on first, the booms look as if they can stay on the wings...it's just the tailplane then...one thing i have noted is too replace the plastic boom screws with steel ones......also my mate had threaded stud in the wing...once the wing was in place wing nuts then held the wing in situe...someone might correct me....one thing i did notice tonight having glued the alerions on....one was ok the other was 5mm thinner than the wing.....not what i would have liked.....will it matter?

cheers

dave

Hi Joe, when I transport mine, I lay the fuse in the boot with the nose gear retracted, then place bubble wrap on top. I leave the main wheels retracted and lay the wings on top of eachother with the booms attached. I leave the boom bolts 1/2 a turn loose in storage. You slide the wings onto the spars, stop a little short and connect the servo leads and air line for the retracts. Slide both wings on further but leave a little short, just enough to fit the tailplane in the cutouts in the fins. Then slide the wings fully home. I then turn the model up on its nose and install the two wing attachment bolts through the hatch in the lower fuse, and fit the two tailplane bolts, then tighten the boom mount bolts 1/2 turn. With the booms ready attached you save a lot of time. It really is quite easy.

OK guys here is ilan's Falcon with the JJ1400 on custom mount, i think the installation came out better than we hoped.
it looks so RIGHT sitting on the falcon !

The mount is machined from aluminum (turbine is angled 5 degrees) and anodized in the same color as the engine cowl. i also put 2 spare M4 holes in each side, to hold the holders for the smoke injector tubes to be added on !

For transportation, I just take off one wing complete with boom & remove the stab. Just takes a couple of minutes & it fits in the car fine.

Your vehicle must be very wide to take the 64" width. My Mondeo estate is about 6" to narrow & I thought it was wide.

That looks awesome..what type of performance you think you getting with that gas motor..I.E speed/vertical...i had a supertiger 2300 inmine and could not get it to run well..I also had the same prop that I shortened...lost the bird to a DX7 and thinking of my second one now.

Where does the exhaust go? Do you add an extension to take it out the bottom?

I shorted the prop to mutch ,i have now made 1 ,shorted only from 15 mm ,i hope it run's better than the old one.
It's not going vertical ,but the speed is ok.

It's flying weicht is 6,5 kg.
