5 degrees works fine with a 14-15 pound engine. A Wren SS is a good power match for a Falcon 120. I found that mine still had a tendency to climb at higher throttle openings with 5 degrees. I changed to 6 degrees and now it's just right.
It has good acceleration and no trouble rotating. Those who have trouble rotating most likely do not have a couple degrees of nose up attitude as the plane sits on level ground.
Go with 6 degrees downthrust and 1 or 2 degrees of nose up attitude and you'll have smooth take-offs and no tendancy to climb.
Here's a video of mine in action. Not the best video since the camera doesn't have a zoom lens.

What is the best tool to use to get an accurate angle for the turbine? Right now mine is 0 degree's which I didn't have a problem with but I'm switching to a K80 so I want to add some down degree's.

Paulaus.. that was a great vid. Nice flying!
Could you list down the modifications you made to the falcon? What turbine is she equipped with and did you have to de rate the turbine? Thanks!

Had my Falcon 120 radar gunned for the first time yesterday. My falcon weighs 12.5 pounds dry, Wren 70, and no retracts. Top speed from level flight was 138mph.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Hey Guy's
Just got flight number #3 done on my falcon120 after about 6 months of waiting for me to finish machining new main landing gear.
This is just such an easy flying model!!! I've flown heaps of warbirds and EDF models which are/were more of a handful. I've got the Wren 54 Mk2.5 and this time I had about 1.2 lts of fuel in her. flew great and not a bad turn of speed for the 'ole girl. So if there are people out there still um'ing and arh'ing about getting one of these, they are great! They are NOT ARF, but they arn't $$$$ either!
Thanks
dave

Really great flying Paulus, its amazing how close in you can fly the falcon, thanx for sharing Tim

my falcon flew about 15 flights in the last two weeks, it has gone from maiden with mike flying it, to me on a buddy box and in a matter of days off the buddy box to solo flights.. Even had a flap servo die on me sunday (the end of my flying :-() but still managed to trim it out and get it back on deck in one piece...
highlight of the whole weekend though was watching a falcon 120 flight... low and slow, full flaps with gear up down the runway, and then gear out, landed.. you would never believe it but the guy taking the photos yelled out 5 sconds before that hehad just run out of battery.. typical, no evidence but I'm going to egg him on to do it again so we have the proof..
ive got a ton of photos from the weekend and when i get a chance will put the ones of the falcons up, there are some pretty impressive photos!! heres a preview

That falcon is fully glassed, flies with a p-60se, pretty much every mod that has been done in this thread and more has been completed, I have never witnessed a jet get thrashed like this one, but it is a well mannered workhorse that never fails to impress anyone and everyone that sees it fly.. it helps to have the piloting skills of the owner!!
Mine on the other hand is my first actual turbine, and is yet to be wringed out any where near that one, but is a close copy of it..

Hi All ,
Cheers Paul for your comments , Im the pilot/owner of the Falcon of the above video and photos . Firstly i'll have to congratulate Paul on his Achievements and his falcon, Flying it very well and his efforts to get it ready for the recent Jet day were huge.
The Falcon.
All solarfilm has been removed , balsa sheeted and fibreglassed. Bolt holes for attaching booms and stabs have had 3mm plywood 3cm diameter Circle plates reccessed into the structure to provide support for the bolts. All servos have been attached to cover that sits flush to the surfaces, see photos. Retracts have been fitted and trailing links with airpower wheel and brakes Pre cut out gear bays sheets and re cut to suit landing gear. The Gear Rails have triangle reinforced blocks glued in. The Spar has been incresed in length to make it to the next rib ( standard spar falls short and the spars are solid glass fibre rods front and main.
All formers in the fuselage from behind the nosewheel were removed and replaced with formers suited to my fit out. Twin level Front Radio Trays between the first 2 former locations, All Turbine and fuel related systems installed on the Fueslage floor between Radio Trays and Fuel Tank. ( I can provide photos if anyone is interested) . A nose gear door is installed and controled from an airswitch when the nose retract is up and locked. A berry juice container serves as the Fuel Tank with a RBA Header tank. Engine Choice Jet CAT P-60 with 7 degrees downthrust mounted in a alluminium bracket attached to a 10mm x 10mm spruce wood beam screwed and glued to the Wing root former and the solid wood block at the end. A cut out was made to sink the engine closer to the datum line of the aircraft. Metal Bolts were used though out the aicraft for wings/boom/stab attachments. 2S 5000mah Turnigy Lipo for the ECU and 2 x 2S 2200mah Turnigy lipos for the receiver using a Powerbox Sensorswitch. Jetronic Brake Valve and Servo Operated Retract valve. JR 8411 Servo on the Elevator , Spektrum DS821 Servos on Ailerons, Flaps, Rudders and Nose Wheel Stering. 10mm Crow Braking on Ailerons when Flaps max down ( 75mm from Wing root trailing Edge. )
Im at work at the moment, So unable to tell you of any other control Deflections however if anyone would like to know im more then happy to check them
Thats all i can think about at this point in time but if there is any questions im more then happy to help if i can
Safe Landings to you all
Best Regards
Michael

Nice video! Regarding flaps, I use Flap15 for takeoff, Flap40 for landing, and mine flies almost identical to Todd's. Landing speed is slower than most trainers! Looks like he's using wire U/C, but I use the Dreamworks set made for the Falcon, and highly recommend.

Thanks Paul, there's some very nice, highly modified Falcons out there. Looks like you guys had perfect weather for your rally, please send it over our way for ours at the end of this month! Yours looks great too, maybe we good have a national Falcon only jet rally. Looking at those pics, I reckon retired Qantas engineers just look younger every day!!
