Hello guys.
im setting a Falcon 120 for my buddy with a JJ1400 turbine.
in order to achieve CG at 330mm back from leading edge, we have to add about 300g of lead in tail. does this sound right to you?
this is with three 2s lipo packs 2200mah in front of fuel tank.
attached are pics of the jet.

I think its fine. I had a kingtech k80 on mine (about 1300g) and still added about 200g far end of the tail booms. Seems the JJ1400 is lighter at around 970g. Adding 300g more to the tail is normal to me.

On my Fly-Model Navy Cat (basically the same plane), I have my 3S 2100 LiFe ECU battery under the fuel tank, on top of the hatch that you use to access the rear wing bolts, I have (2) 2S 2100 LiFe about 4-5" forward of the first former in front of the fuel tank, not shown in the picture above, but they mount just behind the cortex

I put a 2700mah 2 cell and two 1250mah rx batteries in the wing bolt hatch , under the fuel tank. I only run 1 elevator servo, mini servos on the rudders, with a lighter turbine (Super Bee). No tail weight needed.

Same here 3 x 2200 placed through hatch where wing bolts are, held in place with Velcro physically as far back as possible and no lead needed to balance and I made 3 litre epoxy tank

I have a P-60 on mine and it does well. Takes off on pavement in 125 feet. Top speed from a dive in the 140-150 range.
I am using the conformal tank which holds 85 oz. approx. Gives about six minutes with a lot of fuel left. There were 3 tanks for sale in the classified. I'd get one but I already have a spare.

My first 4 Falcon's used a gas start Kingtech K80 flying from grass at sea level. https://www.larcs.com.au/
Plenty of power for takeoff and cruised at about 2/3 throttle. K70 should be plenty.
My 5th Falcon uses a kero start K100 only because it is my first kero start engine and I wanted to try it.
What landing gear and fuel tank is best suited for this model?
I recommend the conformal tank with the rear fuse formers removed/modified to allow it to fit. This gave a safe 7.5 mins flying time with 10% reserve after shutdown.

Thinking about getting fir just a fun, throw in the car turbine. I've read so many different threads about the falcon 120.. you have a ton of mods to.....you don't have much to do.....you can fly it on a 60 size turbine as is....all very confusing. I have a chance to pick up a nib falcon 120, for a very good price. I woukd put a K60g in it. Does this combo really need any mods other than hardware?

First landing knocked the LH main out of the wing, mounting blocks and all. Very little glue on them.
Next to come adrift was the nose gear,,, mounting blocks and one of the formers it sits in came loose. Glue problem.
I then removed the U/C mounts and replaced them with extended hardwood blocks properly glued in.
I removed all of the fuselage formers and re-glued.
Later (early version) Falcons have had the covering removed from the wings which were then fully sheeted and recovered.
So, fly without mods? Maybe, if it is a version 1 then at least re-glue the UC mounts.
Fly on a K60? Again, maybe, off hard surface no worries, Grass might require a longer takeoff run but once airborne it will fly happily on 6kg.
Would I get another Falcon 1.20 if I found one. Definitely.
My latest is a Version 1 with U/C mods and wing sheeting mod. Fuse formers removed, some discarded, others re-glued. Conformal tank fitted.
Engine is a K100 kero start which gets it off our grass strip easily and flies easily on low throttle settings.

Crickey its such a long time ago I bought a version 1 I can't remember, but I do remember thinking it was probably OK for IC power, but no way for a turbine the rear platform was just a glass shell with a balsa infill, the formers all pushed out as well, and I just pulled out the UC mounts from the wing without any work, the version 2 was not much better and needed work to be safe.

I was under the impression there was only 2 different versions. One had sheeted wings one didn’t.
